How likely is it that someone will come along that is better than federer?

Sampras dominating for most of his playing career so that was for about ten years.
Could there be a new crop of players that could turn up in the next five years that could beat federer. He is pretty safe at the moment, hes still a level or two above the rest like nadal, roddick, hewitt, agassi, safin.

the standard is always improving so why isnt there a better person coming along every year.

There are better players coming along every year, its just that so far, other than Nadal, none of them are good enough to challenge Federer because he's improving as much (if not more) than the chasing pack.

of course someone better will come along. thats what happens. evolution of the game and players. there is some kid out there just now, somewhere, who is maybe 10-11 and who doesnt yet know that he is going to be the one the knocks Fed off the pedistal just as he did to pete. its the hope every young player has otherwise the game would die.
