How many slams do you think Novak can realistically get?

I used to think he would blow past 20.

Now not sure. He's only one year younger than Rafa, right? Maybe not even?

I think over the next year or two he could just go nuts and win 4-6 more. Right now it doesn't look like Fedal can stop him anymore.

I'd say he gets AO 2019, AO 2020 and finishes off with AO 2021. Don't hold me to this though it's probably wrong.

About 6 years ago I put Djokovic's total of Slams as 12 to 14. At the same time I put Rafa's at 14 to 15. It seems I was wrong about Rafa (he's now on 17). I think for Djokovic that 4-6 more is realistic so finishes on 18 to 20. I think Nadal will win 1 or 2 more so end up on 18-19.

He needs at least 2 next year, to have a very far out shot to get near Fed. I think he wins AO19, Nads takes FO. I have a feeling he wont win W. Could take USO. Then maybe 1-2 more. So most likely about 16-17. One more injury and i think its over though.

5 weak era Slams. He already won one weak era Slam this year ( US Open 2018).What a cakewalk draw.
In gained the previous 13 GS titles, Djoker always defeated one his of the three biggest rivals - Federer, Nadal or Murray. The GS tournament, which won and didn't meet any of the three biggest rivals, he long deserved to win.

I would say two AO's with next year being almost a lock as he will be very keen to win his pet slam again after watching Federer tie him over the last couple of years.

I would say that Rafa is still good for RG next year but Djoker will get one more either 2020 or 2021.

I can't see anyone stopping him at Wimby for the next couple of years unless Muzz has a Fedalovic style comeback also and wrestles it off him

US Open has always proven to be unpredictable so I have no confidence there.

My guess is that he will finish on 18 or 19 slams.

No offense but beating Murray isn't a huge deal mate.

The thing with Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, is they have all experienced that slump where retirement is a realistic possibility, yet have managed to bounce back by winning multiple slams. Logic suggests none of them will be able to do that again should they pick up another serious injury or major loss of form.

I think all 3 are riding their last big slam push, and I'd guess Federer has 1 more in him, probably Wimbledon (if at all). Nadal has a realistic shot at whatever FO he competes in, plus another potential US, so 3 more realistic slams for him. Djokovic is the freshest of the bunch, and his 2019 should be his final year of dominance - winning at least 2 slams, probably 3, and burning out in a blaze of glory before that lack of consistency creeps back in following the achievement of his goals (returning back to number 1 and a multiple slam winner).

I would guess 3 next year, 1 or 2 in 2020 and a realistic shot of 1 more beyond (if he doesn't retire).

At this point I have trouble seeing Federer having one more Slam in him. He's not only stopped winning tournaments, he's also started to lose to lower ranked opponents very consistently.

I think right now the question is for how long Djokovic holds up physically, because nobody on the ATP is close right now. Nadal is still the favorite for RG.

We might get the situation that Nads winning RG is good for Feds Slam record long term lol.

We all thought that before, and it took a prolonged period out of the game for him to rediscover his mojo. Who knows, maybe the realisation that he may decline fairly quickly over the next year or 2 will spur him on for one final push somewhere. His consistency is gone, but the quality remains.

I am not that sure the quality has remained. Fed's game is hyper aggressive, and if the footwork to support that goes his entire game goes down the drain. If his recovery isn't good enough anymore to sustain enough physical training/practice/matchplay then it's simply over.

Lovely wife, nice family, rich enough that he never has to work a day in his life if he doesn't want to. Playing tennis solely because he loves it.

How are you doing?
Talking about tennis here not his personal life. When's the last time he made it to the second week in a major?

Also fine. Going out tomorrow, will hopefully have a good time. Will keep ya posted if you want.

17-18 seems a realistic target. He has a good chance at winning 2 in 2019 then could win another 1-2 in 2020. Its curtains from there. Maybe 1 more final slam at an advanced age.

Yo guys, let's not get into a weak era argument. Or even a Murray argument

Seriously

If Djokovic plays at 90%, which player under 30 can stop him in Bo5?

If you name a player

Now try saying without bursting into tears laughing
Kyrgios, Nishikori, Goffin, a few others could come together and take him out a couple of times. Won't pose consistent problems but if they did it in 2014 they can do it today.

18.

Not enough to surpass Federer as the GOAT, but maybe enough to push past Nadal and Laver for 2nd place (dependent on what Nadal does from now on, of course).

If Djokovic plays well he should realistically sweep them all next year. Who's going to stop him? Federer is pretty much done, Nadal and Murray are both recovering from injuries with questionable returns. Delpo just got injured again, Wawrinka is looking average. Everyone else is a part of the "next gen" who won't beat Novak in form. I could easily see him getting 4-5 more over the next 2 years.

Lol at beating murray is not a big deal. Shall we go into murrays h3h against the field? Also his h2h against some of those invincible stronge' opponents of yore. 2 major final wins against djokovic. Beating any pro let alone murray calibre is a huge feat. I would love to see the TTW professionals try and beat a challenger level pro. #SMDH. Murray get your ass back and win the ao you big hipster scot.

I think he finishes with 19 slams. 5+ at this point is going to be difficult. I think 2019 he could possibly take 3, but after that it becomes more difficult, and there will definitely be younger guys coming through by then.
Only really Nadal looks like stopping him in slams, but Nadals career is closing out with that knee within 2 years IMO. But whether he can stop Djokovic right now im not too sure.
Its a really exciting year ahead IMO, and that will tell us a lot about how much these guys have in the tank going forward.
