Hyper-G 16 vs Confidential 16

Can't speak for the Confidential but I love Hyper G. I might go from 16 to 17 the next time around but it is awesome.
Yeah I play with Hyper-G 16 for more than one year and I absolutely LOVE IT.
Only sometimes it could be a little bit too powerful and erratic... Confidential seems to give a little bit more control so I'm really excited to test it!! :)

My limited experience with Confidential was that it felt a little bit stiffer and deader, less spin, power and feel as compared to Hyper G. Control was nearly identical with a slight edge to Confidential.

That's what I'm looking for. ;)
And it would be really strange that spin is not at the same level.
Will see myself on friday! :)

Considering in most cases, the darker color versions of the same poly string would play deader than the brighter color versions, I strongly suspect Confidential was just Solinco's attempt to dye Hyper-G black, but they found it to be a bit too dead to be branded as the same string.

So many years of work for that?...
@TW Staff could maybe give us what they think about that idea... :)

I ve been comparing Hyper-G 17 and Confidential 17 at 48lbs in my Blade v7 16x19. I don't know ... they play pretty similar to me with confidential being slightly more dead and stiff feeling. Hyper g more muted and soft. But once they both drop tension they play pretttty similar. Good spin on both but I might give the slightest edge to hyper-g. I don't have any troubles going from one string to another so I'm sticking with confidential for the colour.

I have played with both around 48-50lbs on identical Racquets.. Pure Aero VS '20..
Hyper G was too soft.. i'll be playing with Confidential for the rest of the year..
Yeah I'm pretty sure that Hyper-G is really softer (more elastic) than Confidential.
I was looking for a slightly deader/stiffer version of Hyper-G. Confidential seems to do the job. Can't wait to hit with!

I was getting less spin/bite with Confidential. Still need to do more testing with the sets I have left to have a real opinion

HyperG is the best string I ever used. Tour Bite is even better, but the stiffness is savage.

I feel like I hit the lottery with Hyper G. Tour Bite Soft was the first string I tried when I came back to tennis. Hyper G was the second. It just does everything I want it to do and the feels great since I string between 45-48lbs. It's downright lethal in my VCore Pro 97HD.

I have only played with the 17g of both. But I’ll say confidential actually scared me when I was stringing it, that was the least amount of “stretch” I’ve ever seen out of a poly. It hit like it too- total control, really outrageous how I could redirect / change the direction of incoming balls in doubles especially.

Came with some elbow pain but I’ll try it again in my prestige mid which seems more arm friendly than my prince TTs.

First hit today (2h30) with Confidential 16 at 55lbs (25kg) beside Hyper-G 16 at 55lbs in my PA's.
Very interesting session but I need more time to have a final thought.
First thing that come in mind is... Hyper-G is an incredible string!!!
But I can feel the little extra control from Confidential. And I like it. I need also to compare the playability duration.
I'll be back soon.

Played 1h30 more on red clay (as always) in tournament today (win).
While the higher stiffness of Confidential give me a little bit more control, I still prefer (by far) the absolutely unbeatable feel of Hyper-G.
Spin/slice/kick serve/drop shots are better with the green killer. That's clear.
I will go a little bit higher in tension to have a little bit more control in my PA (especially in hot summer). 57 or 58lbs (26kg) will be perfect.

For me, Hyper-G 16 is definitely the best poly on the market.

Have you tried hitting with it again? Want to try it out but gotta get that info before buying

Ok. Anyone want to try a hybrid of Hyper-G and Confidential?

HG Mains / Confidential Crosses - Slightly stiffer bed offering better control potential and longer playability duration.

Confidential Mains / HG Crosses - Stiffer bed, higher launch angle, better depth potential.

Been playing with Hyper G for 2 years and decided to try Confidential to compare.

First impression: Stiffer, not as arm friendly, at least not newly stringed and on off center hits.
Less powerful, had to strike the ball well to get proper depth.
I tiny bit (might be subjective) less spin.
Crisper and not as muted/mushy as Hyper G.

Second impression: Lot more precise on good strikes and much more forgiving on off center shots. You get more confidence by this, which makes you go for fuller strikes, which gives back the depth and spin.
If you strike the ball well, comfort is ok, but not as good as Hyper G.

Last impression: I’m sticking with Confidential for a while. It just has more control. You know those slices and off center hits that can really fly on Hyper G? These tend to not happen as often on Confidential.

Great string. But remember to stick with it for a while. In the beginning it can seem just “less” then Hyper G.

I agree but I can have pretty similar control with Hyper-G 16 at high tension (26kg) with so much better feel, spin, touch and comfort.

Exactly my experience with 17g to 17g comparison

I found more control from Confidential and longer playability, where hyper g fell off pretty sharply.

I prefer softer strings but felt unstoppable with Confidential, felt like it could do anything.
I feel that much more with Hyper-G at right gauge/tension. And with so much better spin and feel.
Confidential is nothing special... It's just one more dead string.

Yes, I guess this is very personal on when a string is "soft"/"dead". My father thinks everything that's not natural gut is dead. (And I keep telling him that the cow he's playing with is in fact dead as well :))
But because Hyper G and Tour Bite is very popular strings from Solinco, I believe Confidential "fills" a good hole somewhere in between these two offerings for many players.

I haven't found Hyper G to have fallen off sharply at all. Even after 8+ hours of pretty strong hitting. Granted, I string at 48 so there's probably not as noticeable of a drop as people stringing higher.

100% agree! Even at high tension.
Tension stability and playability duration of Hyper-G is one of its exceptional qualities. Far better than all the strings I've tried.

I tried them both. Confidential just felt dead and muted, had no spin. With Hyper G the ball was very lively off the string bed. So much power and a nice crisp response. Slices were deadly. Hands down the better choice for me, I have a reel of Hyper G 16L.

The pleasure when hitting with Hyper-G is so massive... Delicious feeling!! :p

The falloff in comfort and performance was pretty apparent to me for hyper g. Not necessarily a negative feature of the string, I was expecting this to happen. This was 17 gauge @43 lbs.

I mention this because people are notorious for over using this string because it's popular, and wonder why their arm is hurting after 40 hours of playing on it.

I agree. After ~8-10 hours of play.. around 1.5 week for me I def. can start feel it being more erratic and less elastic (while still being soft). It's not bad at this point, I usually can play for 20 hours+ until i NEED to cut it out.
