If clay courts and hard/grass court tournament distribution was even...

Abmk doesn't know what he is talking about as the inconsistencies are clear to see for any objective individual. A basic lack of understanding of different conditions and how they help or hinder a style of play. A lot of that individuals posts are I am sad to say fanboy type posts.

I have been to both Indian Wells and Rome many times and i therefore have seen on avaerage where the bounce is higher, which when playing Nadal is often fundamental. Even a way below par Nadal in 2016 troubled Djokovic at his best in Indian Wells according to Djokovic post match presser.
Excuse me, but this would be pretty uncommon. How come?

When Nadal grew up, serve-and-volley was still very successful, and nevertheless he learned his own style. So I don’t think Nadal would have ever been a serve-volleyer.

Also I doubt it would be possible to win a Slam only with serve-and-volley these days anywhere, and that’s independent of surfaces. The new rackets make it impossible to go to the net without perfect approach shots. There is a reason why nobody does it today regardless of surface. Even Sampras or Becker would be helpless with their style these days. And Nadal and Djokovic were lucky that the style they were capable of was the future.

Only Federer would have success in any era, because he is the perfect allrounder.

My comment was about the need to consider all the direct contingencies if you introduce a hypothetical and then try to project an imagined scenario from it.

Imagining a world where there is far less clay, without also imaging that players would have far different games if they had grown up in this world, is short sighted.

The rest of your remarks are fairly trite, superficial observations, particularly the remark about only Federer having success in any era. I will not address them.

agree, but I'd still give Nadal the edge even in an evening match.

Sure. But if we think of it in terms of a series of, say, 25 matches, so as to reduce the importance of chance and inevitable fluctuations in form, it goes from something like 20-5 in Nadal's favor during the day to something like 14-11 in his favor in the evening. In my opinion, anyway.

says the troll Glimmermann who doesn't have an idea of tennis before 2011 and is an utter Nadal fanboy.

visited Indian Wells and Rome many times ? only a fool will believe the BS coming from you.

you got owned big time by my post , #53, deal with it.

yes, Djokovic has more of a chance in cooler conditions comparatively, but Nadal still has the clear edge in Rome under those conditions. See post #105.

I see it being a bit more like 15-10 or 16-9 in favour of Nadal during the evening.
and maybe give djoko one more match on the day conditions, something like 19-6.

Chanwan , this is the same individual who said to me that USO bounces higher than Miami.

That is his level of ignorance/delusion.

This is because Nadal got beat up at Miami by Federer.
