I'm looking for a Spin Monster.

I love when a string offers such access to spin that your shots start surprising you. Maybe it's a shot that usually would sail a foot long that curls in and catches the line. Or, you hit an intense angle that runs your opponent way off the court.

the strings that have given me this feeling are RPM blast, RPM blast rough, and lux Alu power spin.

The problem is those strings are expensive and lose their playability very quickly.

So, what is the "spiniest" string you have played with?

Strings I've tried that were fine but not quite as good (imo) as the Babolat and lux:
Tour bite
Cyclone
Max power rough
Genesis typhoon
Hyper G
4G (not cheaper but thought it would last longer)

Any others, or have I pretty much tried the main contenders?

If the polys don't bother your arm, check out the Kevlar/ZX thread. You have ball bite, spin and longevity. Polys, even 4G, will not last more than 12-16 hours. 3 cents.

If you are looking for longevity, the Kevlar/ZX hybrid is the way to go. After the initial tension loss, it stabilizes and you can play with it until it breaks. I am trying it out in an ESP pattern now and,so far, it is holding up perfectly.

Thanks for suggestions, everyone. I actually used to use Kevlar with synth crosses. I liked it, but got away from it.

I wouldn't say durability is my number one priority. It's just that lux and RPM seem to only last for one hitting session. If something could last close to 3 weeks that would be fine.

Zerve and Ultra cable are both strings I was looking at. I can't find single sets of zerve.

Synth crosses will eventually lock up with Kevlar mains. Monogut ZX resists notching and locking up better than any string I have tried. The spin charestics remain ideal through out the life of the string bed.

Golden Set Snake-Bite is one to look at. A lot of spin, but I thought it had too much trampoline to it. Someone on here suggested that it needs to be strung a little more tightly for best effect.

I have used RPM Blast for about 12 hours before cutting it out. Yes it is expensive but it is the best string I have tried for spin.

I think next time I try it again will cross it with a syn gut. If I like it would save some $$.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a set of crossfire just thinking I ought to give the old set up a try. I thought it was kevlar and synthetic gut, but it turns out it is zyex. I will I have to give it a try. Are you one who is stringing the crosses over 10 pounds looser?

Best one I have played with is most definitely Gamma Zo Verve. Crisp and on the firmer side. Lots of ball bite.

It is discontinued now. I think @Mareqnyc contacted Gamma and confirmed as well if I'm not mistaken. Sad. That was an awesome string. Ripped fuzz of the ball like no other.

I mess with shaped strings and while I like them, you give up a lot of ball feel. I matched UltraCable against RS Lyon and the difference in spin was not worth the loss in ball feel for me.

I have found a 7 pound differential favorable for me. 57 lb mains, 50 lb in the crosses.

I used the Crossfire Zx hybrid in my 16x15 Wilson Steam 99s and it lasted 24 hours (if I recall correctly). I was amazed. If I still used the 99s, that's the only string set I would use.

+1 on ultra cable. supposedly rated the spinniest string you can buy acccording to the TW university so it must be true!

Ultra cable has the spin, but it's way down in power compared to All and RPM. I've found ultra cable is best in a hybrid with a more elastic Poly in the crosses

That's odd. According to TWU, ultra cable has a very low sitffness. That, along with the fact that I've heard it goes dead fast, is what made me avoid it.

True... it's not stiff. It just also isn't very elastic. It's a strange string. I've ever gone from 1 day to the next with such different opinions of a string. It truly went from the the possible Holy Grail to Garbage all in the same hitting session.

There is one more that I almost forgot. For the first few sets you will get serious spin from Tourna Big Hitter Black 7, and then you will lose control.

Some have said that Toalson Devil Spin is the same string; it sure looks the same on the photos; it's a very distinctive shape. I have used it and it indeed gives fantastic spin. Awesome-looking string too, both the red and the black. @HunterST Maybe you can try this one if, of course, it is available. I live in Asia and one can get it here.

Yep, I've heard the same. Seems to me that Gamma is an exclusive distributor of Toalson strings (rebranded as Gamma) but only in certain markets, US being one of them.

They are not the same at all. I was hoping Devi Spin would be a much cheaper alternative to the quite pricy Zo Verve (discontinued by the way) but it is a very different string. The texture seems to be the same but Devil Spin is much firmer and even lower powered. I have used both extensively side by side.

another vote for Kev/ZX but in addition use the TravJam "ESP" method of mains at least 15 lbs more than crosses, I use 65/46 in my 98s and love it

too much spin

The three that have produced the most spin for me are:

1. Ultra Cable (currently using) - fun string, loses tension quickly, massive spin but hard to put the ball on a dime, dies after 8 hours of play
2. Wilson Revolve 17g - awesome spin for round string, snapback is second to none, softer string, gets a bit too lively once the tension starts to drop
3. Genesis Black Magic 17g - best tension maintenance of the three, but not quite as much spin as Revolve and UC...lasts me about 12-14 hours for me.

Strung in a Pure Aero Tour @ 52#.

I love when a string offers such access to spin that your shots start surprising you. Maybe it's a shot that usually would sail a foot long that curls in and catches the line. Or, you hit an intense angle that runs your opponent way off the court.

I would recommend Tier One's Firewire also. I have a couple of folks I string for that hit super heavy top spin. They won't play with anything else now and neither will I. One thing to note, I have found there is a right and wrong way to string it. For max bite, before you pull tension on a string, you have push it up toward previously tensioned string. Then, when you pull tension on it, the string rotates as it straightens so that all the sharp edges are facing up. Start with 18 gauge in a full bed or try 18g in mains and 16 in the crosses.

I think that trying poly-poly hybrids is the way to go. I'm currently doing some research on this, which I should finish around early August. If all goes well, I may upload the finished research paper to this board. For the meanwhile, try a uniquely shaped main with a slick cross and silicone spray should usually help if you have access.

Isn't that illegal???

Nope. Despite what many people think (for some reason) silicone spray is completely permissible for use by the ITF and most other major tennis associations worldwide. In fact, there's even silicone spray out there specifically for tennis (forget what it's called but it's on these boards somewhere). Point is silicone spray is indeed legal for use whether before or during an official tennis match :)

yes crazy spin out of the gate and in full it becomes insanely uncontrollable, not only launch pad but unpredictable angles. In hybrid with synth crosses still exceptional spin and good experience throughout 'normal' life of the string.
If I remember it dropped a ton of tension between hour 2-3 for me in full. OSGM crosses supported it well.

RPM blast at low tension provides great spin, as well as Y-Tex Quadro Twist at mid tension.

MOST spin by far is
Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable
This string has the highest rated spin on tennis warehouse (Not rating as in 95/100, but actual measured spin)
It is at around 17, to put that in perspective, RPM blast is around 6.
