Interesting Ivanisevic interview

This is one of the aspects of tennis that I think doesn't get talked about enough, especially considering how OCD these guys are. Some courts have a whole extra court's space to work with back there, while other court's don't provide enough room for a proper back swing ! Peculiar.

But, is that true for ttop players who aren't playing challengers, futures, or even playing on the secondary courts at a Slam? What court that Rafa or Fed or Djokovic play on doesn't "provide enough room for a proper backswing?"

from 50 to 1.3 - he talks about size of court and how that plays into mentality of game and why it possibly favors Rafa (because of size) and other players that get to play more on the center court.

Compared to other articles out there which keep re-hashing things over and over - its always nice to hear how some player and ex-players think about these things.

thanks, great interview. always liked Goran

It was an exaggeration, but even the space behind the top 3-4 courts at a major, where they could conceivably play, varies.

The Centre Court at the French is renowned for having the largest distance from the baseline to the backwall so it becomes a positive psychosomatic impulse to Nadal in spades knowing how he's like a pig in mud when it comes to standing waaaay back past the baseline. He knows he has acres to move around and the dimensions to do exactly what he wants when he's scurrying his opponents from side to side like a pinball.Something like this shouldn't be underestimated on how much it effects/improves their game.

GREAT interview. Thanks. Great to see him give serious insights.

I've stood on Court PC and it's a giant space. Truly amazing.
