He’s made this bold claim this week. But is he right?

Last year, he lost in Surbiton to Kudla in the SFs, but then beat Tsitsipas and Wimbledon Finalist Kyrgios on grass, then narrowly lost to Berrettini in 3 sets. But at Wimbledon he bummed out in R3 to Big John Isner who hit 36 aces in 4 sets.

So what is the top 10 on grass atm?

  1. Djokovic
  2. Errrr… Kyrgios
  3. Big John Isner
  4. Murray?????
(Berrettini isn’t in this convo anymore sadly)

It's good to see Hyeon Chung back out there. He's 0-3 in his return, so I hope he gets some wins soon.

According to Tennis Abstract, Murray still ranks 9th in raw grass court ELO. He ranks 4th in grass ELO on Ultimate Tennis Statistics (behind Djokovic, Berrettini and Nadal). Maybe it's not as crazy as it sounds?

I could buy him being top 10 in a one match, winner-take-all scenario. I don't think he's top 10 in terms of players with the best chances of winning seven B05 matches to take Wimbledon.

This is a really interesting subject because in general I think he's not capable of competing with the best anymore but when I really think about it, there isn't that many names I would put above him on grass. He's not the player he was though and his movement has dropped off so it really depends on who he plays. Obviously Djokovic no chance but the other recent grass success stories like Kyrgios/Berrettini are both out injured and might not be in good form for Wimbledon.

Then I got looking at the top 20 and of the names there, I think Alcaraz/Fritz/Sinner/Norrie would push him hard and most likely beat him. The rest is honestly super open. Medvedev/Tsitsipas/Zverev have never convinced me they are great grass players and the rest is at worst 50/50 for him. Maybe he is right...

I'm inclined to say that he could well be just based on talent and everyone sucking on grass these days. The problem is I don't think he quite has the endurance over several matches to go further than the 4R at Wimbledon. I'd love to be proven wrong though

You've got to admire his enthusiasm after a round 1 straight sets win against Chung in a Challenger level tournament... at least win the thing first.

Is there any current info on those two? Would be too bad, if they weren‘t at least fairly ready for Wimbledon.

Djokovic, Alcaraz, Berrettini, Kyrgios, Hurkacz, Sinner, Medvedev, Zverev, Norrie.

So yeah, I think sir Andrew Baron really makes the top 10 cut of current best players on grass.

One would even argue he could be in top 5 if 100% ready.

But I think Alcaraz, Medvedev and Zverev will show this year they can play on grass well. Might add someone from Tsitsipas, Rune, Ruud and Rublev quatro in the mix.

Aside from those players I could see another players upsetting him he could lose to many elites or semi elites these days. Like I don't think Murray these days is a safe bet in any match he plays.

I don't think Murray beats Fritz, Rublev, Tiafoe, Shapovalov, van de Zandschulp, Cressy, Sonego or Paul on grass

Probably, because he'll tire himself in 5 sets in the first rounds against random players.

Andy's playing at Surbiton Challenger right now on grass, there was extended highlight on "Tennis Challenge" YT channel but I guess they took down Andy's match only today? Weird, he did well took out this Yunchaotete guy from China 7-5, 6-4.
