1 slam, 2 extra slam finals, the Olympics, 3 masters, the WTF and world no.1.
I think it's pretty close.
I think it's pretty close.
Murray's 2016 and Djokovic' 2012 are nearly identical. And to make matters even more interesting, both seasons were Olympics seasons.Lendl's '85 season is still probably ahead although it is very close. In terms of most ranking points I'm guessing Djokovic's 2012 would be considered number 1 but I think Murray's overall achievements this year are better.

Djokovic faced far far far tougher competition.Yeah, but Murray's 2016 is slightly better. Olympic Gold vs. Olympic 4th place and 78-9 vs. 75-12.
I think he reffered strictly by achievements.I would put Djokovic's 2012-2014 and Lendl's 85 over. Murray is very close to them though
Can't disagree with that to be honest.Djokovic faced far far far tougher competition.

2016 has been one of the least competitive years in tennis history. Future generations will wonder how a cranky pusher made it to #1.
Actually there's half a chance that in 5-10 years time we'll be pining away wishing that Murray was #1 again when guys from the "lost generation" are #1 just because Murray and company are old and washed up.
The lost generation can get bent and disappear from history. I'm sure Raonic will win a couple weak sauce wimbledons, but otherwise we're going to skip right to Zverev, Thiem, Shapavalov, etc.
Zverev and Shapovalov may be good, but I'm not sold on Thiem. Never have been.
