Kohlschreiber!

I've always liked Kohlschreiber's ability to dig deep and he proved it again today against a tough New York/Isner crowd (I'm American and Isner has had a great summer, hopefully he can continue his form in Asia!)

Kohlschreiber has a 1/9 record against Nadal but has never laid down. His one victory came in Halle last year with a straight sets win. He has taken a set in each of their hard court matches: 2007/2010 Australian Open's both four sets, 2008 Dubai three sets, 2010 Toronto three sets, 2012 Doha three sets.

Nadal is the obvious favorite (against anyone) on slower surfaces but Kohlschreiber could be a potential problem on this quicker US Open surface/lighter balls and his lightning court movement/aggressive serve/anticipatory return game, ETC.

Nadal is the obvious favorite in this match as well but I will watch this match with optimism as a Kohlschreiber fan (this has "POTENTIAL" odds breaker/money maker status) Although I wouldn't bet anything you can't afford to loose :)

Good Match today Philipp Kohlschreiber!

Kohlschreiber's intensity and effort on every single point was impressive. He hops a lot and uses his legs I see to compensate for his short stature. I think Nadal has his hands full if they are facing each other. (finally)

I think kolschreiber also took a set from him in the 2009 us open.

Philip just has John's number. I am a big Kohl fan but he is super inconsistent. I often think of him as a guy who, at his best, looks top 5. Then, on other days, does not look top 100. His stroke mechanics fall apart day to day.

That said, even Philip at his best will do nada against Rafa. I dont think John would have either, though, so no big deal

I like Kohlschreiber. Gritty and competitive. Didn't get to see the match though. Satellite went out because of a storm.

I'd say that a couple of hours or even 6 hours is not enough. I've had people that I play with ask others not to tell them results even more than 12 hours after the event. They've got the match on TiVo and don't want it "spoiled".

The TW moderators have not spelled out a specific time limit. However, the forum descriptions are fairly clear. Place your *Spoiler* threads here! for the Pro Match Results forum and Talk about anything Pro.. Except Match Results! for this forum.

Koelschriber has an AMAZING second serve, I believe he is the SECOND place on 2nd serves won percentage. He is incredibly consistent and has a very solid one hand backhand.

Thing is though other than that he doesn't have any major weapons/offense that could harm nadal, nor the power.

It'll probably a match with alot of rallies but in the end nadal will win by a significant margin.

He's a bit of a contrast to a guy like Mannarino (don't want to "spoil") who appears to get star struck when playing on the big stage. Kohlschreiber tends to get up for the tough opponents and has a keen ability to capitalize his good form. I remember Roddick had respect for Kohlschreiber (having played some really tough matches with him)

Yeah, the last 2 rounds have really been the only times Ive watched him play but the 1HBH is lethal when it is on.

Not certain how he will do against his next opponent but I think he will play out of his head and make it interesting.

You really have to love Kohl's game; taking the ball early, flat shots, fine touch, great physicality,....

He's a marvel to watch.
I hope Rafa beats him though.

IIRC, PK is the kinda guy who plays great one match then poorly next. He took out your man ARod at AO once, and then fizzled out to Jarko, iirc. 2008, i think. I've seen this repeated a couple times.

Always liked Kohlschreiber. Gotta think that Isner screwed himself by coughing up his first service game. If John was gonna win this match it was always gonna have to be in the tie-breaks and he blew it within the first 5 minutes of the match.

Love his forehand, great technique, also his backhand passing shot is amazing, really looks confident when he hits it.

Yesterday he played a lot of drop shots as well, smart play against a mover like Isner.

+1. 12 at least. DVRs are ubiquitous. Of course I'd just stay away from these boards entirely. Even in the Racquets section someone will give matches away: 'after watching xxxxxx d yyyyy, ...' 10 , minutes after it's over.

I've always liked him. He maximizes his talent and doesn't play the star struck card.He always acquits himself well. Seems like a classy guy.
