Well, these are retail numbers according to TW:

11.4 ounces
Balance 33cm
SW 311

Of course adding the leather grip would change those a pinch.

340 SW, 10pts HL balance, 343g. Don't listen to all the naysayers that say he plays with low swingweight. That's silly.

Check out post #6.

There’s another spreadsheet of ATP specs out there somewhere that has Nick’s SW specs in the low 320’s. Sure, it’s unusual for ATP world tour players, but it’s not “silly” or unheard of. Goffin, for example, plays with a pretty light setup too (and his is also reportedly a retail frame, not a pro stock).

Edit: here’s one of those spec spreadsheets...which in fairness I don’t always take as Gospel, but in this case it seems to corroborate the specs of the racquet that was spotted for sale on the big auction site.

It seems reasonable that Nick would have a lower swingweight. The kind of adjustments he makes using only his arm (due to lazy footwork) must only be possible with a low SW setup. If you trust Nick himself, he said in a stream that he used to add lead tape to his racquets, but has taken it off since getting stronger. I am too lazy to find the evidence for this though.

I remember saying somehting about playing with a leathered grip otherwise stock racquet and not needing lead as he hit the gym and could generate his own power. This was on a Q&A with fans on twitter.

If true, maybe Nick should hire someone who knows his stuff. He can't imagine receiving Isner/Raonic/Karlovic serves with a stock SW frame. Maybe Yonex tweaks his frames for him with bumped specs. I would be really curious to see the specs on an actual Kyrgios frame.

The racquet isn’t the problem. Maybe Yonex should try tweaking his head.

You on the other hand spend time on a thread about a player you hate.

Interested to know how you know that. Well anyway, contrary to your assertion, I don’t hate Nick. At times I don’t understand him.

When he’s healthy and engaged in a match, he can beat anybody - and it’s really something to watch. Too often though it seems like he’s either not healthy, or doesn’t want to be out there (sometimes even says it out loud!).

Sorry I misjudged you. My bad. I must spend too much time on tweeter where fans page are filled with haters.

Nick has a huge talent but lack work ethics. He knows it. He said so in an interview during IW or Miami. But I don't think there is anything wrong with his head, he's just like that. It clashes with the rest of the ATP players on tour that would sacrifice everything to get a shot at a slam. I just accept him like he is and truly enjoy watching him play

All good @AMGF. Though I meant it as a joke, I can see how my comment about Nick’s head would seem hateful.

I love watching Nick play - especially when he’s into it and on his game. But even when he’s losing or up to his antics, I can’t stop watching that either. There’s really nobody quite like Nick on tour these days.

But, there’s also a part of me that wonders what could be with Nick if he applied himself more. Maybe it’s not in his nature. But I have hope that someday he’ll dedicate himself in a more meaningful way. :)

I don’t pretend to know the guy because I don’t. I met him once and he was pretty laid back, cool guy. But he doesn’t have good work ethics. Watching him practice is more entertaining than the Harlem Globe Trotters. He goofs around with his buddy/hitting partner/tentative coach and it’s a good show.

I don’t think we’ll ever see what Nick could have been if he was dedicated because it’s just not him. He’s that spectacular dude that on a good day can beat anyone and on a bad day lose to anyone.

That being said, I appreciate him even more since I gave up expecting anything from him. He’s a wild beast that show up once in a while but when he does, he’s brilliant. Like a lion in a Safari. Most of the time, the lion lays there doing nothing. But if you catch him pissed at a hyena trying to steal his meal, what a show. :)

i find this very funny, because there are some self aclaimed experts on this forum who swear pros need heavy pro stock frames, yet Kyrgios, Goffin, Kachanov and Thiem prove otherwise. They have no problem returning serves, maybe less problems because lighter racquets are bit faster to manouver. :-D:-D

So you’re saying Thiem and the like use NO tape? Wow. I heard FAA didn’t but Thiem surprises me with that one hander. He plows that ball

Thiem is at 343SW if I remember correctly. I would not say it is low, it's pretty average for a big spinner. I have no clue what Goffin and Kachanov SW are using.

I think low SW is more the exception than the norm. Plus Nick return of serve is certainly not one of his strenght. If you look at the best returner (Djokovic) you'll find a hefty SW. No free lunch, everything is a compromise.

In the beginning Thiem used just a 305 gr Pure Strike off the shelf that could not have a swingweight of 345. Later he did use some lead on his hoop.

He probably didn’t play stock for long as the two long stripes of lead at 3 and 9 on each side of the ridge, have been there for as long as I remember.

He did switch strings a lot so it’s entirely possible he tried different set up for his frame as well. I just don’t recall seeing his Pure Strike without lead.

If Nick uses retail stock racket how come he couldn't walk into a racket store and buy a racket? Or buy from TT and get it sent to him? Why did he have to get it sent from Australia? I could've given him mine!

Who tells you this nonsense?
If you want to try to prove me wrong than firstly you have to use the right evidence. For instance the periode he used the original black and red paintjob show only very thin strips of lead probably only to balance one racquet to the other instead of the later white paintjob. It only prove how stupid some of you are and how eager you are to believe that all pros use special pro prepared pro stock racquets from some mysterious hidden factory in Nirvana. Lol lol lololol, llllllolllol :mad::oops::-D:happydevil:

Because he is Kyrgios and because they drive on the wrong side of the road in his home land!

I'll take this at face value and assume you don't know, but his racquet is no longer available in stores...anywhere. The model line itself is 8 years old:
and has been discontinued for 5 years (since the Ai98 came out).

As far as getting it from TT...ironically @downs_chris owns 3 of them, and he was at the Citi Open earlier in the week (he was at the Kyrgios/Nishioka match). All he had to do was ask...

This is why paintjobs work. People like @bjk can't understand that a player can use an old racquet with the new graphic. New graphic = new racquet. Makes the tennis industry a lot of money.
