What do people think here? Not sure much has changed but Nadal is a proud, proud champion and might have one good match in him to get revenge for the beating he took on a court named after him.
Vital match for Nadal. No one is going to take his come-back seriously anymore if he loses twice in a row on clay against a guy who hates this surface and played like 19 finals but 0 on clay. He isn't even injured according to him... he isn't at his best and he's still dealing with issues but he's fit enough to play, so... I don't think he would play if he didn't think he could win this kind of matches. De Minaur lost in 2 sets against Djokovic who played his worst match of the week in Monte-Carlo. He received a beatdown against Fils in Barcelona. He is just not that dangerous on clay. His ranking #11 is well-deserved but on clay he is hardly a top-50 player. Nadal losing to Tsitsipas, Zverev, Ruud, Rune or Sinner would be encouraging, but not De Minaur...
On the contrary, any match that an aging all time great player needs to win in order to gain confidence that he still has what it takes to win a slam could not be more vital. There’s no such thing as a “vital” match for a near 38 year old.
Honestly, I've got no idea
Moya to me seems to come off much more positive in interviews about Rafa than Rafa....not sure who to believe moreVery good interview with Moya, he seemed like he wasn't withholding the truth. Thanks, Rattie.
A big reason why Rafa started doing so well in 2017. Toni made Nadal feel so pessimistic about his game sometimes. Moya had to remind Nadal who he was.Moya to me seems to come off much more positive in interviews about Rafa than Rafa....not sure who to believe more
The opposite actually, De Minaur was a couple of points from losing the 1st Set, which took 67 minutes, 7-5.He didn't just lose to AdM, he got smoked. I can't imagine he will just flip a switch

Nadal doesn't even have to improve to win the 1st Set.
De Minaur only won because it was Nadal's 2nd match of his comeback...
You mean the tribute to their graphic designer who passed away recently? What’s going on here?
Yes, thank you. Must have been some guy!You mean the tribute to their graphic designer who passed away recently?
Definitely means business!Nadal means business.
He's moving around to get every ball on his forehand and hit it to the backhand.
After Nadal's 1st Round Barcelona victory over Flavio Cobolli he said he was saving himself for Madrid and Rome-How many people have hung a breadstick on Nadal in a deciding set on clay?
In order to keep up the air of invincibility, the great man and his fans are now saying "He only lost because he tanked"
Nadal's never lost on clay indoors... and he schooled Djokovic 60 62 75 in the 2020 RG Final indoors.Roof closed, advantage AdM
