^^^^Rafa didn't serve too well today. He had a first serve percentgate of 48%. I wouldn't say , "rafa's never played better even on clay" with numbers like that.

He serves that way against Fed, and he will get punished.
And as we know Rafa relies so heavily on his first serve for success.

Nadal is really the favorite going into this one. Right now the confidence of federer is just not the same after losing twice to canas. and fed is thanking his lucky stars that he didn't have to play canas in this one. I just cannt see anyway fed can win with healthy rafa running around out there.

This is the dumbest argument out there. Federer's confidence wasn't shaken at all by those losses to Canas. If it was, he would have lost to Ferrer or Ferrero, and he surely wouldn't go through the tourney without losing a set. What makes Roger so great is the fact that he is able to shake off losses so well and move on. I'm not saying Roger will win tomorrow, but the fact that he continuously makes finals on his weakest surface really says a lot about the quality of his game.

Yes I agree here I think Federer was just in rest mode during the two times he lost this year. Of course I want Nadal to win but am still disturbed about that second set with Berdych - as it's on Sky Xtra here so cannot see the actual match - only see the live score on computer - this is a difficut one to predict - no doubt Federer has really worked on his clay game so it will be very interesting - but even if he does win - it still does not mean he will get the FO

I want Federer to win this match as much as any other Federer fan (not that I have anything against Nadal).

Alas, I predict Nadal is just going to be too strong on clay. I predict Nadal in straight sets.

/prays he is wrong

I think generally for Fed, it's "mission accomplished" already because meeting Nadal in the first tournament of the clay season sends a very ominous message to Nadal. The message probably is "Look, nothing's changed, I'm back." Fed's done well to lie low here.

Yeah, and Rafa's message to Fed is likely to be the same as usual: " Again, for the upteenth time, here is your butt handed to you on a clay platter ".

I wasn't talking about Nadal beating Fed on clay, just the fact that Fed is consistent enough to meet him in a clay final is, in my opinion, good enough at this stage for Fed. I don't know if Nadal can show that kind of consistency on grass; If he can, good for him.

Of course he cant. Nadal made the Wimbledon final only because his draw was a crock, he wont even be past the 4th round this year. Plus in the Wimbledon final Federer playing about 20% of his best still beat Nadal playing his best. Federer was playing so awful for him I almost wanted to cry, and monkeyboy was playing out of his mind, but Federer still won pretty easily since there were 2 romp sets and 2 very close sets. It must have hurt monkeyboy to know Federer playing awful still beats his best when it is Fed's surface, even on clay Nadal playing that awful and Fed playing his best Fed would win easily.

As for clay I sort of agree but I still hope for a good showing. If both play like they did today Nadal will win though. I know Fedboy can play alot better then he did today though, and I am hoping he is saving it since he didnt need it against washed up has been Ferrero.

i dont know how you can say his draw was a crock. everyone was saying. " oh nadal is going to get knocked out first round. oh nadal is going to get knocked out in straight sets by agassi... whoops agassi is too old. nadal will not make the finals. and you know what. he did. and you know why? did you happen to look at his statistics and percentages of points won on first and second serves? obviously not. he was playing on fire the whole tournament and earned his way into the final. not because of some crap draw but because he earned it by playing phenomenal and aggressive. and for you to say federer played 20%? dude seriously just shove it. keep boasting about federers level of play is 300 times superior to the #2 in the world and where does that get you. obviously anyone who wants to win a slam is going to play at 100% and thats what federer did. you dont go out there saying 20% is going to win me this title. you're probably some washed up 14 year old kid who knows nothing. bravo fanatic

nadal has more to lose in this game than fed. fed loses - its not like it was all that unexpected. nadal loses - his unbeaten record on clay is gone and also his domination of clay in general is under threat.

lot of pressure on nadal - not so much on fed.

i dont know how you can say his draw was a crock.

Very easy loser, I will say it again, "Nadal's draw at Wimbledon was a crock."
Not hard at all.

I never said that. I saw Agassi play some earlier in the year and it was clear to me he would be lucky to win 1 or 2 matches at Wimbledon and the U.S Open, and that is what I said at the time too. The difference between him from 2005 was already visibly enormous. It was obvious his back ailment, which he had taken medication to keep under control, had finally taken over. He just looked like a hobbly little old man in 2006, after still looking like one of the worlds best on occasion in 2005. I was not surprised at all Nadal beat somebody playing like a hobbly little old man, who some no-name Austrian could have easily beaten in the first round if he hadnt choked.

Perhaps you were referring to the fellow loser you probably discuss tennis with. Wrong to assume I would have had the same beliefs as them.

nadal will not make the finals. and you know what. he did. and you know why?

Because his draw was a joke, filled with a bunch of second rate clay courters. Nuff said.

did you happen to look at his statistics and percentages of points won on first and second serves? obviously not.

Yeah he was playing a bunch of misfits who cant return serve well enough to prevent a clay courter with a so-so serve from holding. Once he played Federer in the final, the first opponent who could actually return serve, he lost his serve 6 times, and that was a Federer playing like garbage for his standards.

he was playing on fire the whole tournament and earned his way into the final. not because of some crap draw but because he earned it by playing phenomenal and aggressive.

Against a bunch of wannabees, in a "clay courters" draw. Whoop-dee-doo.

If you werent some pathetic dimwit who never watched tennis you would realize Federer was playing 20% for him in the final, but he still won vs Nadal at his best, since while Federer loses close matches so far to Nadal on Nadal's best surface where Nadal has to play very well to win; on Fed's best surface he can play as crappy as he wants, and still beat Nadal no matter how well Nadal plays. That is the truth and it was proven in the Wimbledon final. Now go crawl under your rock loser.

Don't bother arguing with Federer Fanatic. He's an idiot troll.

This will be a match of who will keep his nerves in check best. Each has a lot to lose...Nadal his record and pride, & his entree to Roland Garros, Federer his record (negative v. Nadal) and his entree into Roland Garros, If Nadal can keep his serve at its usual high %age he wins this match. if not...50/50.

guys the match started already. it does not appear nadal will dominate here. fed can pretty much match him shot for shot. and fed has the volley/serve going for him too. just a matter of controlling his unforced errors.

oh I'm wrong. fed can't really rally long with nadal. he gets outhit from the baseline or commits error. he just can't seem to hit as hard as nadal.

Fed does look a little pressured out there. His confidence doesn't seem very high.

By the way, it is so f'ing annoying to watch Nadal pick his *** before every point. For the life of me, I can't figure why no commentator or interviewer has ever asked about it. It is so truly bizarre to watch this obsession with his ass. Certainly, the guy can afford some decent underwear.

It's those tight pirate pants. The price Rafa Zee Bull pays.

fed's forehand also looks weird. he's just barely got them in with no pace and killed by nadal. fortunately nadal is making a lot of unforced errors.

fed just can't hit an aggressive shot at all - when he wants to he hits it out. 8 UFE and only 1 winner on his forehand. that's really bad.
