Personally, I don't want a new machine, I want custom cases like Yonex and P1 use for their machines.

I have personally used the Prince P7000, Alpha Ghost 2, Yonex PT8 Deluxe and the Baiardo. I string racquets for myself and my kids and here is my experience:
- Yonex PT8 Deluxe; very easy to use and the machine is very high quality. It is like driving a Tesla Model X. I use the Yonex PT8 Deluxe about 8 times
- Prince P7000; very easy to use. The machine is high quality but it does look kinda cheap. It is like driving a Lexus LX580, reliable but that's about it. It does not have the flashy look of the Prince P6000. I use the P7000 about 10 times
- Alpha Ghost 2; very to use. Same quality as the P7000 but it does not look very fancy. It is like driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, one step down from the P7000 in term of look. I have the Alpha Ghost 2 in my house
- Baiardo; very similar to the Alpha Ghost. It does its job well. A co-worker of mine purchased the Baiardo.
IMO, the Yonex PT8 Deluxe is the best one out there but it cost almost three times the Alpha Ghost 2. In term of value, Alpha Ghost 2 is the best value for the money. The Baiardo costs almost twice more than the Alpha Ghost.

As a Apha Ghost 2 owner, I highly recommend the Ghost 2. The technical support from the Alpha Ghost is first class. I don't know much about Wilson technical support but I am extremely happy with the support from Alpha Ghost.

Except the Baiardo Lite doesn't have gravity release clamps. So, for me, that's a downside.

Hmmmm….looks like it isn't that much of a decision. The Ghost2 is a fine machine. I've strung a couple of frames on one and I did like it.
Not too sure how to feel about the new Baiardo "Lite" machine. While I have no doubt that it is a fine, high-quality machine, it just seems to me that they removed all of the cutting-edge features the original Baiardo introduced to the market and make it special.
All things considered, I'd probably go all the way and get the original Baiardo to get the full, high-end experience...for me, it would be worth the extra money.

Hi Irvin, John and everyone looking for additional information -
The MAJOR 2 items removed is the electronic motors for height adjustment and tilt. This machine has 1 motor while the original has 3 motors. Height adjustment can be done manually easily by one person before the table top is installed, or with 2 people (preferred method) if table top is already installed. The tilt can be adjusted manually. The base is lighter without this additional motor.
There are 5 fingers on the clamps on the lite vs. 4 fingers on the original. To lock the clamps to the base, it has a newer (more ergonomic) twist knob. The screen/computer buttons has less memory saving features (i.e. memory positions for multiple stringers). These clamps do not have gravity release.
The original is still being manufactured for sales and spare parts, with no plans of discontinuation. The clamps on the two machine variations are not interchangeable.
This lighter version allows stringers and clubs to get the best features of the original machine, with some improvements in the clamp design, in a more wallet friendly package.
Marketing information is not yet available (hopefully later this month). Orders are being taken and it is ready to ship. If interested in more information, send a private message.

I agree, and with the gravity release clamps on the Ghost 2 and $3000 for a new Ghost 2 in the US vs. $3749 for the Biardo Lite I would think the Alphas Ghost 2 is a better value.

EDIT: @racquet_x-pert do you know what the T handled Allen wrench is for in the Baiardo L is used for? I’m assuming that is to adjust the 6 mount. Is the 12 mount also adjustable?

Very vague on the base clamp description, Says twist lock bases, I wonder if that is like cone lock where you really have to twist it to lock , verses lever lock where you just flip a switch lever that is spring assisted?
I can't imagine that they would use a cone lock on such a machine.

The bases on the Star 5 have a twist lock. Base is star shaped you you just twist. Very ergonomic no lever. This method prevents is movement of the base off center as the pivot for the base is off center from the pivot for the clamp.

Personally, I love the bases on the Mighty Sensor. It doesn't get much more ergonomic than them. No twist, no shout, when you lock the clamp, your hand continues down and presses the base lock in one smooth motion. And the gravity release feature makes it a breeze to move clamps.

Hi Irvin - The allen wrench is used to remove the electronic box, swap out the limiter switch, and most of the items on the table top use a hex from underneath. It is also used to adjust the mounting posts. Hope that helps.

Most tournament stringers will take their own tools with them when they string at tournaments. Many stringers prefer Babolat starting clamps over other brands’ starting clamps. You’re basically guaranteed to see Babolat starting clamps used by stringers at all the majors and masters tournaments.

My old red Babolat VS clamp I bought when the 50/50 pattern first came out back in the 80s and it is still the best starting clamp I have and I have 3.
EDIT: I think I paid $40 for it back then and it gets daily use. That comes to about $1 / year. My Gamma starting clamp is the easiest one to use but one starting slipping on me after extended use so I replaced it. Alpha is nice but the Pros Pro is junk.

The Baiardo L has been released. The list price is $3,749 for the US market.
Here is additional information:
- 20% lighter than regular Baiardo (assembled weight is 96.2 lbs/43.6 kg) - (original assembled weight is 124 lbs.)
- Manual height and tilt adjustors
- Simplified touch-sensitive computer panel
- 3 Speed options on puller head (regular has numerous puller head speeds)
- 2 Pre stretch options (regular has numerous pre stretch options)
- 1 Knot tie off button (regular has numerous knot pull options)
- Sound on/off button
- Adjusting mounting posts for badminton/squash/racquetball stringing
- Included reel rack (regular does not come with reel rack)
- 5 finger black clamps (regular has 4 finger chrome clamps)

@racquet_x-pert, I gotta say, if the Mighty Sensor ever goes down, this sounds like an option to the Ghost II. It definitely has $500 worth of options with the tilt. Thanks for posting the latest scoop.

Hi. I have original Wilson Baiardo (in my living room) and i love this machine, clamp bases are great but i dont like those 4-teeth clamps so much. This new model Baiardo L has 5-teeth clamp but does it fit to old baiardo clamp base and are these new clamps available to buy separately? Original clamp base with anti-gravity release + new 5-teeth clamp would be ideal!
Apparently, the the 4-tooth and 5-tooth clamps have a different design and are not interchangeable.

Glide bars? I assume you mean rails. Are you saying the clamps bases of either Baiardo will fit either clamp but the bases won’t fit either turntable?
Correct. These are interchangeable and can be purchased directly from Wilson in 2020. No pricing as of yet.

I think I would prefer the L version over the older version with the gravity release bases. But I would have to see if the machines became available from Europe at an even better price. Who knows the Baiardo L may even have a lower price than the Ghost.
EDIT: You can save ~$1,000 buying a Baiardo from Europe over the US model, how do you know the Baiardo L won’t have similar savings.

anyone have a positive experience ordering a high ticket item through Alibaba? Only results I saw is 1 coming from India. The other coming from mexico but minimum order of 5.

FYI - the new Baiardo L is $3500 with free shipping. There are two on the giant auction site currently available. The machines are new and unused. The Baiardo L includes the height and tilt adjustment they are just manual. I have to say if the Mighty Sensor takes a nose dive, I'm in on one of these new machines.
And apparently that price is negotiable if you're willing to pay shipping. Myself....I'd just as soon pay the full price and get shipping....

I came to this thread when I saw the L on wilson.com. At the price point I am seriously considering it. The clamp base on the L looks very similar in function to the star 5. I would like to hear that the baiardo L holds a candle to the star 5. Especially the clamp base being ergonomic and very secure like the star 5. Also it would be nice if the overall weight of the machine is light. Not traveling with the machine but frequently move it around the house
