Outfits are getting uglier!

People who have bought in. Fashionistae.

Dave grohl of the foos once said, "I don't believe in fashion."

Well, i wear a solid short with a solid shirt. Maybe a tipped collar. A ringer tee. A stripe or two here or there. Normcore. But it looks good, functions well, lasts, and does not make me look like a poseur. Boring. But boring doesn't fuel a BS industry.
A modest wedding band does not fuel an industry.
A good solid car that lasts does not fuel an industry.
A solid house of normal, sensible, merely ample size doesn't fuel an industry.

Everything is ridiculously over the top now, and the industry is happy for us, and thrilled with our dependence.
I know, i am a middle aged man. Boring.
But not bored... i celebrate life, rather than celebrating the shiny things in life. Like this pseudo retro poseur tennis apparel, lol!

I certainly appreciate your position, however, I am sure you can also agree that some of these things - nice clothes, sports cars, custom houses, etc - for many make life more enjoyable. Simply put, they are FUN.

Fashion is expression! Fashion is unique to everyone and can be very powerful. Fashion can be aesthetically pleasing, or it can make statements, controversial, empowering. While for some people fashion is putting together a cute outfit, for others it is an art. Just like some people may be into architecture, theatrical design, or even chemistry, other people spill their creativity and ideas onto clothes and accessories by devoting themselves to studying fabrics, colours, measurements, proportions, and more.

Life is short.

The certainly appreciate your position, too! I drive a sporty car, a really cool steel framed bike, and i have some cool watches and accessories. But... i have a lot of fun without a lot of fashion. Also, most of the fashion germane to THIS thread is nonsense.

A great standup philosopher once said fashion is how women get mates (sort of like how success is how men get mates).
I like this. Happily married....i feel i have always been less on the fashion side, and more on the fun and maybe the success side. I'm a man. This does not make me any less fun.

Good, sensible, civil debate. Sadly very rare. Comes down to the old saying, “To each his own.” Whatever brings you happiness. People are made happy by different things and prioritize things accordingly.

Absolutely. I believe any issues like a beach ball. I may be looking at that Beach Ball and on my side of the ball all I see is yellow blue and red. That said, on your side of the very same Beachball it’s definitely orange green and purple. It’s the same beach ball. Just two different perspectives.

Excellent! Haven’t heard the beach ball analogy before.

Dominic Thiem was wearing that one in gray. I thought it looked pretty cool

It looks like a segment of circuit board under magnification, with some absurd combination of colours thrown in.

Obviously, a mostly monochromatic iteration will have one of the off-putting aspects of the shirt removed.

Adidas puts Muguruza in a bright pink shirt w a GREEN mock turtleneck in August in Cincinnati - brilliant!

I didn't see a problem with putting players in bright colours in the summer heat.

I just think that that particular colour combination doesn't work, unless it is a part of much extravagant ensemble ( Tsitsipas is surprisingly a kind of pulling it off, if such combination could be pulled off at all), with many more colours included.

Agree that by Sunday that shirt on Tsitsipas didn't look bad (although not for me).

I was more amazed at the mock turtleneck - it wasn't tight but it was still there. Ridiculous.

The design Nike had for Roger at USO is truly awful. No wonder he switched. They’re selling the shirts for $100 with the RF logo. They also have the jackets. I get that they still have the logo but it’s tasteless as hell for them to sell it as “fall RF gear” that he is personally not going to wear ever. It also looks like leftover stuff from the costume department on Star Trek.

How come this is not false advertising? It beats me.
