Halep plays very nice tennis this year generally, definitely a player to follow next year.
As for the final, i think she might be too good for Stosur, as a smart player and good returner, she will probably targeting Shanksure's weakness, her bh.

I picked Halep because I saw her just demolish Stosur in Cincy and she seems to be playing at that level at this tournament. I picked 3 sets because Stosur is playing better now.
However, I saw Serena annihilate Halep later in that same tournament. And Stosur at her best has some Serena like skills, so she could easily beat little Simona. I wouldn't put money on this match!

How did Halep become so good so fast ? this girl was never even top 50 player. now she is playing like top 5 player in the world. not to mention very very hot too.

I really like her. Very athletic, great combo of aggression, defense and consistancy. She seems very sweet and humble and she knows how to WIN! Too bad her size may prevent her from reaching the top, but she can have a very nice career. And you never know...it's not like Henin was very big physically. Commentators were saying this will put her into top 16 for tournament seeding, which will give her a better shot at the slams.

They were saying she always was consistent, had good fundamentals, but has now started playing more aggressively and that's made the difference.

I fail to see the sexism. Her physique prevented her from playing her best tennis, as she herself said, and she made a difficult decision to make it easier for her to play up to her potential. It's bittersweet because she had to undergo plastic surgery, which most reasonable people do not undergo save for absolute necessity, and it is still a difficult decision. Several posters wanted to know why she started playing well, and this is within reason.

As an example, I am female player and totally get into how hot some male players are. I just don't mention it in thread after thread after thread. Not that Nostradamus is a sexist and mentions the women's hotness in thread after thread - that is not my point at all. It's just that as a woman, this forum can be a bit hard to tolerate where discussions of women's tennis is concerned. Some degree of sexual attractiveness is going to be obvious for both sexes. The comments about the sexuality and attractiveness (or lack thereof) of female players can get a bit trying at times.

Halep was a talented junior she had breast reduction surgery and she says it changed her life for the better reducing her breast size. I didn`t realize how tough it must be for the large breasted women like Serena Williams, Petra Kvitova to play tennis.

I guarantee that is only a function of the ratio of male to female fans on this site. And also of the importance of sexual attraction and sexuality where interest in the male and female game is concerned for both sexes.
You have a bit to learn, son. Don't worry, you will grow. Or maybe not. It's up to you.
If I have time, I'll derive the equation that describes the relationship among male tendencies for making posts related to sexual attractiveness vs. female tendencies for doing so. Until then, I'll just keep trying to improve my groundstrokes. My serve is already pretty frickin hot.

Watched youtube full match footage, Halep's strokes are soooo clean!
Not to be hyperbolic but when I was watching her match against Stosur I thought about Djokovic's groundstrokes. So clean, so deep and so accurate. I'm excited that she has emerged as this really great player. I just hope that this continues. The more great players the better.
