Here's today's look at my gear:

It's notable because I'm migrating to a new stringing machine, so things are extra crazy.

The eclectic racquet journey! It is funny to see where it all began with a walmart Wilson Advantage, then grew to Big Box stores, and then the discovery of Tennis Warehouse and **** :) Tennis is awesome!

Is that a wilson kobra? Very underrated racket, people complained about wanting the spin of aeropro drive but with more flex. Wilson had the answer but the general public jumped on the babolat band wagon so the kobra never got the attention it deserved.

First time i see that somebody got Emrik. I have Emrik Magnum, bought by my parents in 1986 in Australia.

Lol, I have 2 Kobras, 1 has never been strung, and the other I strung with nylon to learn stringing. I have hit with it a couple times an added 20 grams to the handle. Now it seems to hit a lot better for me. I got em cheap off an old guy who seemed....less than honorable :) I like em!

I have one and agree, it's a good racquet; it feels flexible and I get ample spin and power with great playability.

Reiterating, I like the Kobra Tour, I have mine strung with a poly and plays great; I enjoy playing with it for fun sometimes.

This is what I take to a match. The Extreme MP 2.0 and the Instinct MP play similarly and I start one over the other depending on my opponent and gameplan. The Extreme give me more power but a flatter shot, the Instinct adds movement to my serves and slices and is more manouverable but gives less depth. Both are strung with 17g string so when I break a string the other comes out. The ever-reliable V1 Classic is strung with 16ga and is the emrgency backup for both.

My pair of Prestige S are still being modded and tested and modded and tested. I don't win enough with them so they don't go in the bag.

what.....instinct and extreme play completely diff....

Not in my hands. Most of the spin I use is slices and on serve. I have found them to be more similar than different for my relatively flat forehand except the Instinct gets a little topspinny for me and the Extreme carries a little more plow.

Interesting you think that. In my experience the Extreme is a more spin friendly stick than the Instinct.

I think it depends on technique. If you have a really pronounced low to high motion I could see that but the Instinct is inherently more spinny with an equal stroke.

The Extreme has a wider head but the string pattern is much more dense in the middle compared to the Instinct. The 16x19 pattern is pushed so wide on the Instinct as to use share holes on the last two crosses and mains, not something Head usually does in my experience. Despite the head being narrower it is decidedly a more open pattern.

I'll see if I can get a picture for you.

Fair enough. I played with the MG Extreme, and have hit with many of the Instinct racquets from LM through Graphene. Obviously it's a far different frame now, but even so, the Extreme has always seemed to be Head's version of a Babolat frame.

In my eye they both are Bab-ish, but they got the colors backwards. The Extreme plays more PD than APD, at least the recent versions i've played.

Why cant HEAD just sells these racquets like this and call them the "Murray Radical" or "Radical Murray Competition" Something along those line like they Did with Arthur Ashe and Vilas.

Then they'd have to sell the Djokovic Speed and the Berdych Instinct.

The prestige S rackets are good in theory but they are not that great to play with.

Why do you need 6 bags?

Why do you need 6 bags?

I suppose for the same reason I need 18 pairs of tennis shoes, and when I work out what that is I'll let you know :).

Long story but I travel a lot internationally and I've got a real thing for the "right" luggage for the job - if Tumi or Briggs and Riley made a tennis bag I'd have one :). Over they years I've acquired the tennis bags and then later come across something that fitted my needs better (or I just liked the design) so I bought it. They're not exactly expensive and worth nothing second hand so I just keep them and rotate occasionally. At the moment I'm switching between the Nike and Tec ATP (both of which are extremely well designed and made) but sometimes I'll use one of the others. I also need somewhere to keep the racquets when I'm not using them.

Fair point. I hear you. I currently have 2 because, as you said, there's worthless second hand. If only you could trade-in old tennis gear when you upgraded...

That would be great...but then we wouldn't have this thread, and I've trawled all of it over the last few days. We're seriously addicted :).
