Honestly from the OP only Lopez and Karlovic.

Federer and to a lesser extent Haas have really put an emphasis on extending careers so not guys under 35 are going to retire unless they really can't collect any money. Which is why Baghdatis will play until 40 cause he clearly doesn't care about reputation.

Karlovic probably will retire at 40 as he's struggling now but probably wants to pad the serve stats a bit more and just have that 40 feather under his cap.

Andy Murray is my wildcard as I take him at his word trying to gear up for 2019 but if he doesn't show much improvement I think he'll call it a day. Not one I see being okay with 4th round finishes.

Nice thread, maybe add a Why section. age and current rank is often enough, but for example, I think Tsonga has missed 3-4 consecutive majors.

when you can't maintain health/focus for those events, you know it's a matter of time.

I'd be surprised if either Berdych or Tsonga retired. I would expect both to be in the top 30 and perhaps the top 20 by the end of 2019.

Karlovic may well retire but I hope he plays at least one tournament after his 40th birthday, which is at the end of February.

Lopez might retire, too.

Robredo will surely retire.

How is the writing on the wall for Kohlschreiber other than people reading the tea leaves too much because he's almost 35? He is still ranked #34, which is roughly where he usually is ranked. And he's through to round 3 of the US Open. He is a few places lower in the race, but he has a good chance of finishing the US Open around the 40 mark in the race. I think he'll play 2019. 2020 will no doubt depend on how he does in 2019.

I think all candidates in OP + Murray for 2019. I do think both Berdych and Tsonga will go

I think he will not retire barring a drastic drop in form. He is closing in on the consecutive Slam appearances record - five behind Lopez and there's talk of Lopez retiring. So long as Verdasco is in the top 50 at the end of 2019, and possibly even if he is only 70-80, I think he will play 2020 to try to get the record. At the very least, he should overtake Federer for #2 in that category.

Almagro is a good call. He's been injured a long time. I'll add him to the yes list.

Still voting no on Berdych, Tsonga, Verdasco, and Kohlschreiber. Perhaps Verdasco and Kohlschreiber at the end of 2019, but they'll play full seasons next year. I expect both will play in 2020 too. Pretty confident Berdych and Tsonga will be back.

Almagro, Lopez, Karlovic, Robredo (didn't even know he was playing until I saw him in the USO draw) and Tsonga would be my frontrunners to retire either during 2019 or at the end of 2019

Berdych I think can still play a couple more years unless he doesn't want to anymore or his form completely drops despite coming back healthy.

Murray is a possibility as well depending on whether he can still remain healthy and find his top form again.

I hurts to say the next one as he's one of my personal favs to watch, but Gael Monfils is also another possible candidate. He hasn't been fully healthy in over a year now and he's lacked the results for the last year and half which has led to him falling outside the top 45. If this continues next year, the Frenchmen might ponder upon calling it a career.

It's quite sad for me to see all these guys above retire because the last 15 years has been the only era where I've actually been an avid tennis fan. I was huge Agassi fan back in the 90s/early 2000's but I wasn't a big overall tennis fan. And because of that, I feels really weird for me to see all these players suddenly leave the tour since I've been watching them all play for all these years already.

Yeah, pretty sure his victory today books Kohlschreiber's participation in 2019. No retirement just yet. Unless he wins the title and decides to go out on top, but that won't happen.

I think Berdych and Tsonga will retire 2020 except for injury. Paolo Lorenzi maybe and possibly Janko Tipsarevic if he hasn't retired already. Jurgen Melzer. Nicolas Mahut retires from singles
