Anybody have any experience of the mid vs a Wilson PS90? I specifically have the 320g Asian version of the red white Ncode. I just played my first night of tennis after 4 months off. Starting playing with my 332g Yonex 97, was OK but was struggling a bit. Switched to the Ncode 345g and played much better. The Ncode just feels so much more stable and perfectly balance, it just moves perfectly.

I haven't had much experience with the ps90. I have the BLX that I use sparingly. The Mid just seemed to feel better to me and swing faster. I'll try and take the BLX out for a spin to get a better comparison.

To me, the Mid is much more "modern." Much more powerful.

Jolly played with a 90 before he got phened

I do. My racquet of choice is the k90 but play tested the 360+ mid and did buy a couple GT mids which I felt played very close to the 360+.

Resonate the comment regarding the mid feeling more "modern". You sacrifice a bit of feel and point-shoot with the mid w.r.t. the Wilson, but it makes up for it in easy power. It is more powerful, but debateable if it "much more" powerful. I did find a little more ease whipping around the Wilson, but maybe it is all in my head from years of playing with it. And I did have to lead up the mid to my 345+ sw, but other than that I can play with either one interchangeably.

I have gotten my Touch Mid at a good place - 12.4oz, 7pts HL and what feels like 330SW. I used it in a set and had no trouble with shoulder problems serving. We ended up winning the set convincingly. I plan to find a 360+ Mid and see if I can make it my main stick. (Coming from a PD).

Got Wilson handles and testing out the Head leather in comparison to my usual Wilson.

Hey,
I ordered some TK82S pallets for my Head racquets but I prefer the rounded Wilson butt caps. I see you switched out yours. Were there any sizing issues? I have L2 grips coming.
Thanks

I think there’s a mental barrier on head sizes. With so many bigger head sizes, most people feel that it’s necessary to have a 98-100 to play competitively (just because Fed switched, and Sampras lost to Hewitt in ‘02). However, i still see a lot of people using 95”. Even so, I guess you have to play with what feels the best for you and your game.

And yet Hewitt has used 90-93 inch heads his whole career, and he's more of a baseline-player than a serve-volleyer.

Had my first hit with the Prestige Mid and damn, the feeling and sound when hitting the sweet spot on it made me want to just keep hitting with it. My best tennis is probably still with the PAVS but this is definitely the most enjoyable so far.

It's the angle of the pic that makes it look that way. In reality he never crossed 6 o'clock. As Seinfeld said, "It was a scratch, not a pick...."

Haha! Any Seinfeld quote in a tennis thread is aces. “And so what if I picked? Am I not human? I am not an animal!!!!”

And to add to the tennis - look at Jolly’s feet and leg position. Man that’s a perfect set up for an open forehand on a random pic. No wonder he’s crushing the ball.

Once I get rid of the last of my little quarantine belly it's over for these hoes.

IIRC, these are the following strings I've used so far
Synthetic Gut
Rip Control
Durafluxx/Ghostwire
RPM Blast
ADV Slash
ADV Matrix
Tourna Deuce

I enjoyed it with the SG and Rip. RPM Blast seems to be my favorite. Trying to figure out what to try next. Prob Tourna S7T, Experimental, and I also want to try a gut/poly.

Could users chime in on what has worked for them?

Thank you

Hello @J011yroger
I am currently using your mid's ugly granma (rev pro first gen) with 20g of slcn and lead ; and I love it.
My problem is strings : I am burning my wallet on BBO (fav string atm, but 2 hours durability) and would like to consider another string, that could fit those 2 categories

1) Same durability but cheaper
2) Same price but higher durability

Thank you

so what is up with this racquet...
i tried it yesterday... oh man... it's good. so it's definitely honeymoon stuff here but couple of questions for you more experienced players...
1) 93 vs 98 i can't even tell. i hit with blade v7 18x20 and couldn't really tell the difference here... but i must be missing something b/c seems like general wisdom says it's harder to use stick. did not quite seem that way to me.
2) another one is power.. again everyone is like..underpowered...no easy power etc... did not notice one bit... so i must be missing something b/c all the TW and other reviews say the similar things... no easy power and harder to use b/c smaller head size.. did not notice either.. maybe need to hit with it more..

it did suit my style a lot... i don't have compact swings.. full and fast swings so this brings me control.. able to swing freely....Also very maneuverable so it works out really well for me. on the contrary..it has really consistent string bed and great control that i can take a big swing and margin of error is decreased for me.. something is up.. i must have gotten up from the wrong side of the bed... again..maybe it's all honeymoon stuff.

i am 100% keeping it in the bag.

I honeymooned a bit with my PS90 and thought that it didn't lack power, but it does in some circumstances. When you can't get enough of a swing before contact, or on a hit outside of the sweetspot, then you notice some lack of power. (Obv it's not this mid though).

I share the continual surprise at how similar this racquet performs to certain tweeners, but with weight and feel. It has dbeen Goldilocks for me even in long match play.

Literally the only weakness I have found is my own forearm...cramped up in the arm a bit after 2 hours of Texas match play in ~110 court temps.

love this frame, it will probably take me getting stomped again by a 13 year old at the next UTR to switch back to something stiffer and larger head size.

Really good stick but I need something with more real estate. 93 vs 98 makes a difference for me.

I fully expect to come to that conclusion eventually.. i was surprised not to notice any difference yet but haven't put it thru enough play time.

It plays like a more forgiving 93. Close to a 95 but I actually found it easier to play with the Graphene XT Prestige Pro which is a 95. But this XT plays pretty close to my 97” UT.

I am getting the Prestige Mid as a demo a second time later this week to see if this would be something I would like to keep in my bag. I sold off my Wilson Clash 98 16x19 as I was looking for a 16x19 racquet to complement my current Blade v7 18x20.

Initial thoughts were great on serves , very maneuverable, and definitely hit a faster pace ball than my Blade v7. It did feel less muted but that was to be expected and I had some issues while getting pulled wide and hitting on the run compared to my Blade. I have been putting more time on the court since the first demo so maybe some of earlier issues was due to rust due shelter in place.

I will try this with the Hawk Touch/Velocity setup that comes strung with the racquet and also put in Hyper-G and compare against my Blade to see how both perform.

I'm going from 98 to 93 with this stick, but it's worth it. For me the serves it produces is enough for me to make the switch. I've just had to request a court in the middle of our tennis center so when I shank the ball it won't get lost in the bushes on the outside of our center. I give the surrounding courts a heads up that there will be incoming at random times.

lol. I send the ball a little further

I am really enjoying serving with this racquet.
