Hi, im wondering if pro supex blue gear is a stiff poly lets say compared to Luxilon Alu Power. Because i string tight (75 Lbs). Alu Power but i have to hybrid it now becuz my arm is starting to hurt. Can i full bed Blue Gear? will it be softer than Lux.

Good lord, for what reason do you string so tight, on a poly no less? Seems as though learning a different technique that requires a lower tension would save your arm more than stringing at such extreme tensions. I'm a big guy and 62 is considered high for a poly but I can't fathom 75.

blue gear loses alot of its spin capabilities at higher tensions. Its almost like the gears get pulled too much and the string surface seems to even out when I string over 66 lbs.

I'd read a Japanese article once with video that showed how the spin was imparted on a ball (strings move and snap back, and when they snap back = spin the ball). I wonder if at such high tensions, the strings simply don't move or move much less with less snap = less spin. The experiments also showed that after the strings had lost tension, they move, but don't snap back (why you have to realign them) which resulted in less spin than strings that did snap back. Just a theory.

If you're having to string at 75# to keep the ball in, you're probably using the wrong frame. Blue Gear is not a real stiff poly, but it's not the softest either. I'd seriously consider trying to get your string tensions back down to the real world, and get the lowest powered frame you can handle.

How does PSBG compare to PHT? I still have a pack of it left and while I have tried other polys such as Lux Alu, Big Ace, Red Code, etc, I haven't liked anything more than PHT so far

Steve. I tried stringing in the 60's and 50's and always came back to the 70's. I have no problem keeping the ball in the court with either.

There's a reason that Luxilon recommends stringing at 10%-15% less than with a gut or synthetic gut string.

Might as well ask someone to hit your elbow with a baseball bat if you are stringing at 75lbs.

I string a full blue gear string job at 57lbs in my PDR - works fine, no arm problems.

You might want to check your technique. I doubt it's the string's fault.

I doubt most pros string that high and they can keep it in the court.

Which racket do you use? That is way too high. I string Blue Gear at 56 lbs. in the Mains of a K90.

Jr. I meant I have TRIED 50's 60's AND 70's and i have kept the ball nice and deep with each of these different tension ranges. And no it's not my technique, my technique is fine, i just prefer to string it higher. Oh, and i use a yonex rds 001 98.

So, why do you string so tight? What are you gaining? None of the pro's string nearly that tight. Sampras did, but he was using natural gut--a soft string. For you elbow's sake, bring the tension down.

i like the boardy feel :p. Oh, and im a heavy topspinner. So i spin alot more that penetrate so i don't need that much power and if needed (approach shot) i can always generate some great pace.

And, it doesn't matter what the pros use. It's your personal choice. Playing with pros equips, strings, tension doesn't mean squat if you can't play.
