I wonder if Davin has anything to do with Del Potro using the 6.1 -- are they still a pair or did Davin move away from him?

Davin is more away but I'm sure they still talk. Davin is now under a head contract using a radical

Thanks for the kind words.

John Krazinski hit a growth spurt ... oops I mean Reilly Olpelka appears to be doing his damage from on high with a 6.1 16x18.

Hahah I still can't believe they are making paintjobs like this. The 6.1 deserves to unveiled.

The picture is from 2014! Super tall guy, he bought a bunch of HPS 6.1 95's and has been using them in what looks to be fully stock form for years. Look him up on google, someone posted a thread about him that I recently bumped: https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/i-went-to-estoril-open-today.561721/

I'm the "someone" Arti posted about. He was playing doubles with his regular partner against Kyle Edmund (he's a 6.1'er too) and a Portuguese guy called Frederico Silva.

I mentioned this guy because it seemed funny he didn't even bother to mask his HPS's under any newer 6.1 version, or at least, order a black paint job. And since I'm a big fan of old Pro Staff racquets, and I have a really, really, beat up HPS 18x20, that touched me a bit.

that's pretty cool that he just stocked up on retail frames. Not very common amongst pros

This list displays former and current ATP Tennis Professionals who used the Wilson 6.1 95 mold in some capacity during competitive tournament play.

*... Thanks to @macattack for the inspiration to create this thread. A very special thanks to @moon shot for taking the time to organize each of the players by titles won, time period used, and general strength of talent. All of us 6.1 junkies appreciate that mate. Thanks again. Also, Thanks for the help @Arti, @Seth & @vsbabolat ).

Per TW-Europe: "The 6.1 is a true player’s racket with a proud history on the pro tour. With its heavy weight (approximately 357 grams strung), this racket is not only remarkably stable, but it crushes the ball and provides impressive power on full swings. The head light balance adds some welcomed maneuverability and speed to the 6.1 Classic. Compared to the Original Pro Staff 85, this stick has a thicker beam, making it play firmer and livelier than many of the classic player’s rackets from the 80s. Wilson’s braided graphite layup helps the 6.1 Classic retain the amazing feel and response for which the vaunted Pro Staff franchise is known. From the baseline this racket feels solid as a rock. Big hitters will appreciate the amount of weight (and power) this racket puts into the ball. The 95sq inch head provides surgical control on full swings, along with amazing feel and responsiveness on shorter strokes and touch shots. At net this stick feels extremely solid and redirects heavy pace with ease. Aggressive servers who can get this racket moving fast will be rewarded with an awesome combination of power and accuracy (along with plenty of “free points”). Wilson has resurrected one of the game’s great player’s rackets. The 6.1 Classic not only deserves a spot on your wall, but it deserves a spot in your tennis bag."

@gino maybe you could help? I really don't want to lose this prostaff classic before even having the ability to restring. It plays great and I don't notice anything out of the ordinary when playing

Still playable?, could I resting it? I just played a tournament with it and didn't notice the crack until later.

It may be that the strings are what is holding it from failure. You can play it until you notice change or it breaks, unless you don't want it that. The issue when restringing is without pressure of strings the crack may open up and not close the same or even collapse under the pressure of strings.

Unfortunately my friend, I think this one may have a limited lifespan. I recommend leaving your current strings in there until you snap them. Then, try and give it a restring, although you might be better off just hanging this beauty on your wall.

sorry, guys, I don't see a crack...maybe finish checking ??? reason I say this, these old paint jobs can get brittle and show as "cracks", I had something similar on one of my ncode 16x18's and it ws fine..just paint check/crack.

I also dropped in some durable superglue/apoxy, just to harden the superficial check/crack..good to go...just something to think about , use it !

Should i just cut the strings and see what happens? The strings are truly miserable.

If you hate them, yes. Just remember the whole thing could snap on the stringer. Like I mentioned, you might be better off putting that one on a wall before it morphs into another shape from too many restrings. Just my 2 cents

+1 I have not had much success searching for suggestions for successful combinations of stringing for the 6.1 or how pro's string/customize their 6.1's....so I keep experimenting.

maybe time for a thread moon shot ;)

I know this is a bit outside the scope of this thread, I was thinking we should gather how these guys string / customize their 6.1.

Agreed on both accounts. Makes me wonder if there are some go-to combinations out there

What do you think, keep it in this thread or start a new one?
In my opinion starting a new one and using the first post to link all those with information/updates would create much less confusion. Imagine digging through 10.000 posts with only pictures of Del Potro hitting forehands just for using the Search Function looking for his strings setup while in just one page you could find his, Kohlschreiber's, Pospisil's and all.

I'd be more than happy to edit the original post, considering the names are already listed. @moon shot

I just wonder how we're going to track all of that down. String set-ups are one thing, but balance points, SW, and static weight may be difficult for us to track down.

Honestly, your call. I can add it to the OP list or you can create a " Pro's who have used the Wilson 6.1 specs and string-setup" threads" -- your call mate

Any ideas? @Seth @vsbabolat @macattack @Arti @QuentinFederer

I could edit it into a few of the posts I have on the first page, don't know how much we will dig up as far as specs but it is worth a shot.

Edit: I think adding it to the first post might make that whole list pretty clunky as to what info you are looking at. The other point as to searching for the info is reasonable too. I think I'll make a thread as someone may not see the request for info who has something to share.

Maybe do spoiler tabs with the extra information next to the player name, for the few that we know and gradually dig for more. I could PM you a few off the top of my head..
