anyone tried the PRO'S PRO DYNA POWER?
its the only synthetic they have thats 1.25mm
it youve tried it, have you also tried the pros pro synthetic power?!
iam mostly concerned with string movement on synthetic gut strings, synt.power seems to hold up well to movement but its 16g 1.30mm. im looking for a similar 17g option

I've strung both of these strings on a crisp feel frame (Dunlop Black Max II.) Synthetic Power was gummy and muted. It left a residue on my clamps more so than any other string. It was a great complement for that frame, but I didn't get to play test it.

I used Dyna Power for the crosses with Black Force mains in my signature racquet, which is on the muted side. The whole thing turned out to be too muted, so much so that I didn't bother play testing it. I have strung Black Force full bed in the Black Max II and it awaits play testing, but it feels like a promising combo. Like Synthetic Power, Dyna Power also feels soft and muted but not gummy and may work well as a cross for a crisp main or full bed in a crisp frame.

I've used Tour Bite, Lethal 5, and Blackout (all in the heaviest gauge available). Tour Bite seems stiffer and his sharper edges as compared with lethal five. Blackout also seems to have sharper edges but seems to play softer than lethal five.

ate up a reel of BO and L5. never used TB. just got reel of Spinox, and a single package of Strategem 8.

My experience(in best order):
spin: S8, SPNX, BO, L5
feel(crisp>muted): S8, BO, L5, SPNX
stiffness: S8, SPNX, BO, L5
control: BO, SPNX, S8, L5
durability: SPNX, S8, L5, BO
best(for me): SPNX, S8, BO, ...

just my take.

Curious to hear your take (and other's) on Black Force

I've heard people say that they get more spin potential out of round poly's than shaped. (ex Head Hawk, Isospeed Black fire, Outlast, etc)

thanks for the feed back, i think i might have to pick up a pack and try it myself
ive been just now trying several of my goto synthetics that ive clasified as cross strings on the MAINS with a low friction poly, and they are working well

If you have the right racquet head speed such strings seem to have a second gear where they produce massive spin. Shaped strings produce easier spin, but IME they peak earlier.

It might be some time before I can comment on how Black Force plays. The cost of renting an indoor court with a ball machine is prohibitive for me. I can comment that the string has a very slick coating, which should help with its freedom of movement and ability to spin the ball if you have the racquet head speed, like STW said.

I'm currently using Topspin cyberflash 17 (1.25) in the mains at 51# hybrided with a 17 gauge synthetic gut at 53# in the crosses on a 98" 16x20 frame. I generally topspin the ball off of both wings. I'm about to finish up my reel and want to try something different.

Can anyone recommend a pro's pro polly that has a similar stiffness as cyberflash or tourna big hitter silver rough and is good for hybriding with either syngut or a multi? My preference is for a slightly shaped poly for a bit more spin than cyberflash, maybe a tad softer but not too soft.

I'm leaning towards one of these strings:
Spinox 1.25
Strategem 8 1.25
Ichiban spin 1.26
Hexspin 1.25
Hexspin Twist 1.25
Lethal 8 1.24

spinox - try a pack first; strategem is good and feels like bab.rpm 2me; ichiban spin is also good, worth a try, spin notisable until string flatens out; lethal 8 is a soft almost round cyberflash
cyberflash is a no frills, early generation copoly, poor mans lux ive always called it; i think most of the pros pro strings are just a tadd bit softer..
hope that muddies the waters a bit more for you :)

def. interested to see what you think of this string
is it crisp?, soft?
i did buy a pack a while back; summer time; did not get a good impression of it, but then again it was a 18L 1.19mm; i think at the time i told myself that a ticket guage would prob. work best; my doubts started happening latter when i kept reading all the reviews from others about it.
i still have the second half of the pack, i should try it again on the crosses

The racquet I currently have the 1.19 Black Force in @48 is a very flexy but crisp feeling 90" with an 16x19 pattern that is very tight in the sweet spot. This combination is very well balanced, which leads me to believe that BF is a soft and muted string. I've read others' experiences that BF is a stiff string. This may be true for a stiffer racquet or at higher tensions. Also, the crispness of my graphite/fiberglass composite frame and the BF string complement eachother nicely at this tension. In addition, I should mention that the string pattern I used is one-piece with crosses bottom-up, per manufacturer spec.

I enjoyed working with the string. And at Pro's Pro prices it's certainly worth a try, that is as long as you're not using a dead or muted frame.

1HBHfanatic and SpinToWin, thanks for you feedback. I was hoping just to get a reel or two, but it looks like I'll buy a bunch of sets to play test first. I'll let you know how it works out. I've been using some of the older polys for a while and whenever I try some of the newer soft ones, they just feel a bit too soft.

Cyber/Nano Cyber Power according to the description. These are two that I have tried personally. I have about 10 other reels and I'm happy so far. (Customers too).

Pro's Pro Black Force 1.14 was the best in this regard for me.

How does it compare to Black Fire? I haven't tried either, but am interested in a round, slick, affordable poly.

I know both you and Aretium have used Black Fire so I'm curious of both of your thoughts on it. I'm a 4.5 - 5.0 baseliner, lots of topspin, high RHS

I never hit them side by side so an accurate comparison is tricky, but the main differences are that Black Force feels crisper and has an easier access to spin as far as I remember (of course otherwise the differences of gauges apply)... I could be mistaking something though, so take it with a grain of salt. I have also heard that different gauges of Black Force play quite differently, the thicker gauges feeling more soft and muted.

which pp string should i try? I'm done with polystar energy (**** 1st gen polys). I want a cheaper alternative.

what i want in order of preference:
power/crisp (Can't stand muted, low powered strings)
lively/longevity (doesn't die after a few hours)
tension maintenance

I have not used either Black Force or Black Fire, but have used Vendetta and Nano Vendetta. My game is similar to how you've described your own, and I've had good luck with both Vendetta's. I get about 8-10 hrs per string job.

How is Strategem and Hexaspin (non-twist version) compared to Black Out? I really like Black Out, but it's a tad stiff.

Hexaspin 1.20 is softer than Str/BO and elbow comforting, feeling almost like multi (and moving like it). Hexaspin 1.25 has better maintenance and crisp yet controlled power (not moving). Better spin than 1.20. Very good pair to PD and APD racket lines.

PROS PRO silver twist, strung this up for a client of mine, crosses only
string did not snap, but frayed really bad (will not buy again),
the inner string seemed ok, but the outer layers started to come unrabble, did not look good

HI,
Just wondering, why would a thicker string offer better spin? Don't mean to provoke, just trying to learn here.

Thanks for the insight!

I tried PP Devil Spin today. This string is crazy! When I was stringing it, it was like steel cable - annoying to unravel and prepare for stringing. I only put it in the mains, with Blackforce crosses. Very firm, insane coil memory but plays nicely, not too harsh. It's notched the crosses already! Might have to try a full bed next time.

What would be the closest Pro's Pro string to Tourna Big Hitter Blue?

Tourna Big Hitter Blue was one of the strings I used for a while in my son's hybrids, along with a SG cross. We're now using PP's Black Out mains and Forten Sweet crosses. We're quite pleased with the current setup.

Because it bites better the ball and (probably) snaps back. It bites better because, IMO, stiffer stringbed would cause more deformation on the ball.

I'm liking a very similar setup with PP Black Out and Tec. SG16 white at 52/52 in my APD13. I love the tension stability that the tec.syn gut brings to the string bed. We shall see about the durability but so far 3-4 hours of moderate hitting its held up nicely. I believe it costs me $2.21 per string job.......soooo that's a no brainer for the budget conscious.

i tried tec.syn.gut (yellow, 17g), years ago..
at that time i tought this string was very soft, softest strig i tried back then,
but it also picked up ball-fuzz pretty quick for a synthetic gut string
are you seing that still with the 16g?

So it picks up some ball fuzz but nothing like the black 16g PP Synthetic! That stuff was sticky until the coating came off. The Tec. SG 16g white is not soft and using the RSI 2012 data its listed at a stiffness of 210. The coating was so slippery that it was hard to grasp while putting it thru the gripper which makes it a nice slippery cross. I went another round today with my PP BlackOut/TecSG16 and im still finding big spin and nice touch as well. I have been a full poly guy forever and I was just tired of the string bed playing sooo differently from each play session and every poly did that to some degree. I figured the syn gut cross would help stabilize due to its better tension retention and help it play more consistently. Hell I don't mind if it breaks every week I just don't want to HAVE to cut it out because it losses so tension and turns into trampoline!

PS. I have also no explanation why perfectly rounded Intense Heat 1.30 at 27 kg has more spin and feels more comfortable than IH 1.25 at 24 kg.

The case with the harder feeling Red Devil 1.14 or iString SuperSoft (as compared to the thicker RD 1.19 and stiffer iString Soft) has been already stated.

Intense Heat 1.25 is an interesting case. Beyond a certain tension it played okay, but in the middle tension range it felt very stiff. It performed its absolute best in the low tension range (around 20 kg).

yeah thats right, i remember that also how greasy it was, not a bad thing now. just need to clean clamps and machine more i guess, no biggie
i think i might have to pick up a set and try it again, thanks
ive been using pros.pro.4x/6x syn.gut, i think it might be the regular pros.pro.syn.power, with an extra gold coil around it, making it a bit firmer
good string, imo, i wish they had more colors..

Pros Pro replacement for Gamma iO

I've been using Gamma iO in my crosses for almost the past year. I've found it to be a good string and I'm happy with it. I understand from an extremely reliable source that it's being discontinued so I'm looking for something to replace it. I wouldn't mind finding something a little less expensive, if possible.
The Gamma is fairly powerful, but not hard on the arm and has great control. Any ideas from you Pro's Pro users would be appreciated..

Well, since PP Synthetic is exactly the same string as Wilson Synthetic Control (no, not a close copy, it's the same string with a different name) then PP Syn Power is probably the same string as Wilson Synthetic Power.

I just ordered a reel of hexaspin 1.25. I've been hitting with Gamma Moto 16/Sensation for the entirety of my spring season this year, but I can't buy it cheap locally anymore so figured I'd try something else out. Hopefully it'll come next week and I can write up my experience with it even though it has probably be covered before.

My team went through a reel of Ichiban Spin 17g this year. Everyone who hit with it said that is was actually a good string and if I didn't tell them it was a $40, they never would have guessed that. It has great spin potential and an incredible amount of feel for a poly. I hit it as a hybrid and a full bed and was impressed with both.

It was also fairly durable for it being a textured string. One of my teammates was breaking RPM and PHT in about 4 or 5 days, but the Ichiban lasted him 1-2 weeks. He was using PHT before trying out the Ichiban and said that the two play pretty differently and that he actually prefers the Ichiban. It's durability in a hybrid was about average in comparison to PHT and RPM.

The only knock we all had on the string was that it dropped tension WICKED fast. The one racquet that I tested with Racquet Tune came off the machine at 58 lbs, the next day dropped to 52 lbs, and then after a week was down to 48. I didn't check any other racquets with racquet tune, but the play ability of the string dropped very quickly.

Right now i am using red devil 1.24 but i want something with a crisper feel and maybe a little bit more power so i was thinking of ordering a reel of Black Force, Strategem 8, and maybe Black Out, but im not sure what gauge of Black Force to order 1.19 or 1.24. I want to order the 1.19 to get a little bit more spin and feel but i am worried it wont have enough control.

Black Force is similar to Red Devil, but slightly less power, slightly better spin. Black Force 1.19 is a very nice string in 18x20. My reel of Pro's Pro Synthetic Gut just arrived, going to be testing it out soon.
