The new paint job is pretty boring, but I love watching Rafa practice--the guy is like a machine.

notice the black strings?

p.s. I have the new rafa racquet in my possession. TW demo for play testers. It feels a bit different in your hand (static) than the APDC. The APDC GT feels a bit rounder and heavier. Eager to go out and hit.

So, after all the work and investment to bring Duralast back to the USA, Rafa is switching strings? Priceless.
Sorry to all the stringers who stocked up on the stuff.

i dont know if the strings were black, maybe silver or grey. if thats the case dont they make duralast in grey.

I believe they are black. . . he has a silver/white stencil that would only be necessary if the strings were black.

The string do look like a shiny dark gray...possibly black. the new Pro Hurricane Tour black? Or same ol' cruddy Duralast in a new color?

I remember Duralast and also Strong Play. No thanks.
Well, either way, cool looking stick for sure.
Best of luck to Rafa.

I presume that Babolat ae chaging the color of the Duralast stings so they can then market it as Pro Hurricane.

That would be the funniest. The person who strings my racket just bought a few reels of the stuff.

The black strings are teh new version the babolat pro hurricane tour strings. They are still available in yellow. I reckon Rafa should string up the bab with half of each, no?

Yes, the black strings are the new hurricane tour. Duralast is taking the place of the ballistec poly from Babolat for 2010.

Nadal is in fact using the new APD GT. I'm a Babolat sponsored pro, and the rep, who came back from the recent conference in Montreal said that Nadal is trying the new stick and deciding on whether or not to use it.

It is very unlikely that he will change considering his comfort level with the first generation APD.

noticed the different strings, maybe it's his duralast in a different color, or it could be any random babolat strings. :p

If he switches racquets, it'll probably be the original APD mold with the new GT blend in the head, because he obviously didn't like the cortex when the APDC came out, he wouldn't switch to the APDGT with a cortex.

I actually thinks Rafa looks a bit sick at the moment. He feels unhealthy thin in his face and it seems like his hair is so thin it´s almost like it´s about to fall of!?
He should beef up a bit imo!!

His muscles look huge. What looks thinner? Some of you people are nuts. I've seen him person. He was never a huge guy at all. Trolls are still trolls it seems. Don't middle aged men have anything better to do than pick on young boys? Kinda sick if you ask me.

I wonder if he is really going to switch to the new hurricanes, or if they are just black versions of the duralast.

I agree about the less hysterical theory that the weight loss is to ease the loads on the knees. I'll expect to see him trying to end points earlier too.

And I think the midget toss training will help build stamina for the long season ahead... :)

You know, I just got through watching the finals of the Italian on Tennis Channel. Nadal's knees were not taped, he showed no ill effects, at match point, he basically did a leg press down to the court surface and there was no grimace, no indication of pain whatsoever. He beat a game Djokovic 7-6, 6-2; a good win on any day.

From the Italian, he went to Madrid where he lost to Federer in the finals. Again, he showed no ill effects, no pain, his knees were not taped and he made no indication of anything wrong physically.

Post Madrid? He loses in the QF's of Roland Garros, he bails on Wimbledon and reaches the finals of one tournament losing to Davydenko. He caps off the tournaments at the Masters going 0 - 3 and not winning a set.

He looks positively anorexic compared to his appearance at the Australian at the first of the year. Commentators at all his matches say he:
  • doesn't hit the ball as deep as he did
  • doesn't hit the ball as hard as he did
  • doesn't move as well as he did
I don't know, but one would think that if he's lost weight to compensate for bad knees, and he's fully recovered as he claims, wouldn't he at the very least move better?

Pancho Segura is right, IMO. Nadal's days as a force on the ATP are over. The other guys know how to play/beat him and he can't impose himself on them any longer. The "edge" he once had is gone now.
