Recommended strings for 2015 Blade's 18x20?

Hi guys,

It's that time again that a new reel has to be purchased and I have no clue what to get. I don't play as often anymore so I am looking for a decent maintenance and under 100$ a reel.

Any suggestions? I used to love ALU Power but as I don't play a lot and am a student this is an option anymore haha.

Thanks in advance

Or maybe Lynx tour 1.25? I’ve been eying Pro’s pro strings for a while but not sure if that will destroy my arm eventually.

great string. good feel and control. Just note that it feels thicker than 1.25 and weights more than most 1.25.

Didn’t want to start a new thread; Still using these blades with a little lead, ~335sw strung. Was thinking about Kirschbaum pro line evolution 1.20 or maybe someone can suggest me a nice hybrid.

thanks!

You feel like this string is great in this racket? I have to be cautious of my elbow a little nowadays as well. I think a thinner string will be nice for a little more spin
I'd say think about a hybrid of Isospeed Baseline 1.20mm mains in a hybrid with Gosen OGSM 16 crosses (or perhaps a softer syn. gut like Babolat or Prince Original SG). That hybrid is affordable ($80-$85 for the pair of reels if you go with the Gosen) and softer than some other setups that include a poly.

If you can live without poly in your racquets for now, a full bed of syn. gut might take care of you in the near term. I've been using a lot of Babolat SG lately for full beds and some poly hybrids I install for local sluggers. The Gosen OGSM is probably a little more durable, but I don't like it at all in my own frames. It's too stiff and clunky for me, but I use syn. gut in my own racquets all the time. I'd expect you to get half decent service life with 16 ga. syn. gut in those 18x20 Blades, too.

I haven’t played with a syngut or a multi for years as I even indoors break them really fast. So I think maybe a hybrid with poly main and something soft in the crosses will be better?

I run HyperG 115 on top of MSV CoFocus 118 crosses at 48lbs in my 18X20 Blade. The white MSV acts more slippery and stiff than the black in my experience.

Tourna 17 gauge Silver 7 Tour. $100 a reel. String it up at 42-44 pounds.

Tourna Silver is cheap, it is often considered as replacement for ALU Power. In full bed, Silver 7 Tour is even better, it's great value. 44-42 tension recomdation is sport on.

Many Blade players use Hyper G, because it works great with the frame and matches the color perfectly.

I also like ALU and use Grapplesnake Tour Sniper as a cost effective alternative. It stays “alive” longer as an added bonus.

I forgot to mention Kirschbaum Max Power, which is also an alternative to ALU Power. One of the best polys for hybrid setups due to excellent snapback and longevity. Just noticed that @henrytennisadelaide already suggested it.

Agree - the skinny poly hybrid has treated my pals quite well for several years.

I'm using Tour Status 1.25 in mine at the moment and I like it a lot. Silver 7 Tour and Lynx Tour could also be really good too.
