its probably no coincedence that they stopped producing it. I found it plays like chewing gum and there was no spin potential what so ever because the strings felt like glued together. furthermore it was super exspensive stuff.HDX Tour 17 worked really well in my ProKennex Ki 5X racquets but has been discontinued by Tecnifibre. Does anyone know of a replacement string with similar playing characteristics?
Thanks for the info, I'll probably give the cheaper RPX version a try to start. What he said.
I'm a long-time 16 ga. multi-filament user (the old LaserFibre Supreme, Gamma Professional, Prince Premier Control, Yonex Super 850 Pro, etc.) who tried HDX Tour based on a friend who used it. I wasn't overly thrilled with the 16 ga. version, but then tried the 17 ga. and at a slightly lower tension than usual and have been very impressed -- nice feel, good power, good control, decent lifespan. Guess I got lucky with the right combination of racquet, gauge and tension.its probably no coincedence that they stopped producing it. I can nt imagine that anyone would be looking for an alternative of this string that sucks big time
Sure didn't expect that to come up as a match! Weird...You will be surprised http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/similarstrings.php

It’s good information to give a general idea of what strings to try based on their numbers, but in the end someone needs to try the strings for themselves and not become obsessed with the numbers. It would be nice to go to the database and find your perfect string but it just doesn’t work like that. The Learning Center is a waste of time in my opinion... Noble concept... it's for Tennis Nerds and not Tennis players. Wasted so much of my time on it....

I agree, some strings look great according to the numbers and don’t play well when actually playing with them. A large sample size of players using a certain string is a lot more reliable than the numbers.IMHO think this forum will give more "similar" strings that the database. Most suggestions I have received and read about here have been much much more useful than that database. But I respect your opinion as well...
