What do you think will be the Ranking of Roger at the end of the year (NOT champions Race, the "normal" list)
FED #1 for atleast another 2 years he will win the French Open and then Wimbeldon so obviously thats enough points to saty top for a while
if he loses French to Nadal it will get alot closer
In order to Nadal take the #1 spot from Fed, he needs the swiss to be beaten in the early rounds of FO, Wimby AND the USO, and Nadal should make it to the SF or best in all of them. And of course, for Federer to lose earlier on the clay MS wouldn't hurt Nadal's chances though
Losing first round of Wimby, FO and USO, and one clay MS, like, I don't know, Montecarlo, while Nadal performing the same he did last year, will be enough for Fed to lose around 3500 ranking points, so Nadal will have like an 800 points lead.Actually no. If you look at the race, Nadal and Federer are about 90 points apart, which equals what, 500 points? So, if they repeat their performances of clay last year, Nadal will be ahead in the race but still about 2000 points below Federer in the Entry Rankings. That might look like a lot, but the truth is Nadal just has to do a little better than Federer from Wimbledon to the Masters Cup to take over the No. 1 ranking. It's easier said than done, of course. Nadal will likely not to be upto the task. But with Federer going out early in the PLO and Miami, it looks possible.

Of course, that's NOT going to happen anytime soon
I expect Nadal to win Montecarlo, Rome and FO, but not Fed to reach all those finals. It's just my guessNo that's not what I am saying. Let's say, they do a repeat of last year's clay season. Nadal goes to number in the race. After that, he just has to get more points than Federer from WImbledon til the Masters Cup. So if Federer makes the semi at Wimbledon, final at US Open, wins Canada, makes the semis at TMC, and Nadal just does a little better at gaining points (not relative to last year) at those events then he takes over the year-end number one ranking.
Well, if Nadal somehow wins 2 slams, the race will be very close.
But that's far away from now... Nadal should defend French first...

Yeah and Nadal is going to do better then Federer after the French Open, with only fast court events left, ROTFL! Get out of dreamland moron.
I think it's going to be tougher for Federer and Nadal to defend
their slam titles this year.
The rankings at the end of the year depends on this years performance, not last years. So right now in 2007
Fed - 276
Djojko - 272
Murray - 212
Roddick - 210
Nadal - 205
This is ATP race rankings . multiplied by 5 times will give ATP
I think Fed will remain #1 because one has to perform all round to beat him. Though at this moment, it's all open field.
I think FO plays a huge role on the rest of the season. If fed wins the tournament I bet he would have almost 9000points in the end of the season LOL dunno if thats possible but the point being he would have a huge motivation burst for the rest of the season.
I cant wait for Monte Carlo to begin. I know many is expecting for the Nadal-Federer matches but is there anyone who could ruin this plan? Canas or Djokovich? I REALLY HOPE that the Monte Carlo organizers will arrange Canas in the same half of the draw where Federer is
One more on my list of idiots.
Nope. He already lost early in two tournies he always wins, Indian Wells and Miami, and he has to defend FINAL on FO, not some crappy 3rd round.I think FO plays a huge role on the rest of the season. And whats wrong with the idea of canas facing federer in monte carlo? 3rd masters in a row where they face each other, nr.1 have lost allready twice so wouldnt it be really intresting to see what happens next? I think you are the friggin idiot but hey I think you know that tooOne more on my list of idiots.
So true...I mean, so far, Federer had a bear of a time defending his AO title. It was brutal...he lost...how many sets? Oh, wait...
There's quickening going on in the maturing process of new generation
players since AO. And when new generation matures, there will be this
domino effect.
Anyway, if it happens, this type of things happens in a hurry.
I think Roger's win of AO this year will be recorded as the easiest
slam win his career...
Since you seem to be a high school drop-out, I'll try to make it clearer: I 'm talking about a hy-po-the-ti-cal situation. Sorry, I mean, a what-if scenario. I hope that helps.
If this happens Nadal has even more to worry about then Federer. Nadal should not be regarded as a 20 year old really, he is a 20 year old with a 25 year old body in terms of wear already. In tennis terms he is already as old as Federer, and aging faster as we speak. In tennis terms he is much older with much less improvement left then all of Gasquet, Djokovic, Murray, and Berdych.
If these young guns mature as you are saying they will Federer's dominance might be lessened a bit, but he will still wins slams and probably be #1, just a less dominant #1. Nadal on the other hand, if this happens, will drop like a stone from the #2 spot, and see his clay court dominance ended quickly too
Nadal is the one far more vurnerable to losses from the remains of the tour then Federer, so if there are more players that are capable of challenging at the top level Nadal probably takes atleast 2 more losses for every 1 more loss Federer takes.
Yeah but his future time at #1 will be shorter than the time he has been #1.
