Well I mean it's like the chair is telling him I'm not suppossed to tell you why Rafa is taking a medical timeout. And Stan had to be thinking, "Okay so I can take a medical timeout at anypoint during the set and then not tell anyone why." That's fair, no?

It is the truth. This kid should be going out there and killing himself to win every tournament at this point. He is a talented guy with a lot of potential but he seems to be "injured" way too much and the only time he seems to bring a proper attitude is at the slams. That is not the attitude of a GREAT champion. Ask Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. Djokovic had a bad attitude with all of his mysterious illnesses and retirements when he was a 20 year old kid but the difference was he won a slam and many Masters 1000s by that age so his racket was doing the talking.
These guys like Tomic and Kyrgios are bit*ching all of the time it seems and they have nothing to show for it. He needs to buckle down, get serious and stfu and play his tennis which has the potential to be great.

I am not here to please you. This is a forum where people offer their opinions.
I enjoy watching Kyrgios and I have stuck up for him many times before (check my posts.) But I find that at age 20, he often has a poor attitude during matches and seems to come up with magical injuries if his game is not going well.
There have been many reports from commentators and players that Kyrgios is lazy. This is a guy with a lot of potential and if he doesn't wise up a little bit he could go the way of a Monfils or worse whereas he probably could aim a lot higher. There is nothing that bothers me more than wasted potential. I hope this is only a phase which he eventually snaps out of.
Wawrinka was right to call him out. Kyrgios was annoying in that match.
P.S. Players who have the potential for greatness start winning titles in their teens or early 20's.

This is the first time that I have to say young Nick has been beautifully exposed as a bit of a brat.
I was a fan of Kyrgios. Am not anymore.
He needs to stop talking this load of nonsense and focus on the game. He has a great personality and I would never want him to be shackled, but he really does need to learn how to channel his energy and emotions and keep the negativity/excuses away.
I actually see Kokkinakis overtaking him as Australia's top tennis export shortly. He is growing from strength to strength.

I don't see what the big deal is. No player (apart from Humblito) talks down his chances BEFORE a match; that's admitting defeat. I'm not sure if he was feeling sick, but he sure as hell isn't going to reveal that to Wawrinka ahead of time.
I think you're missing the point. The fact that he says it after the match when he lost is effectively making excuses for himself and belittling Wawrinka's victory at the same - I deem that disrespectful.
Would Kyrgios say he was sick if he won?? Doubt it very much.

I mean I don't know if Kyrgios was sick or not, and who knows if any of his injuries are legitimate or just him complaining (and I do mean who knows, because as far as I know nobody in this forum has any real evidence either way), but it's not like he didn't praise Wawrinka at all. "He hit the ball massive, free swinging out there".
It doesn't seem to me like those are the words of someone saying "I only lost cause I was sick, this idiot doesn't compare to I, Nick Kyrgios, Slayer of Nadal".
It sounds more like "Yeah Wawrinka can hit a really hard ball and I felt really sick and together it was a recipe for disaster".
I hear you. I just don't think there was any value in saying that he was sick. Yes he praised him, but whenever he comes out self-deprecating with comments about his sickness, injuries, etc, it can far outweigh any praise he gives to his opponent. It appears that many others include professional players like Wawrinka feel the same way. Kyrgios is intelligent enough to realise this. I guess he just doesn't care. Personally I feel the sooner he matures the better he will be - until then I seriously think Kokkinakis can overtake him, as in stark contrast, the younger one is maturing better.

It is pretty mild, but the undercurrents are there.
Kyrgios won a few matches at Wimbledon last year, then took time out before the US Open due to injury. He won a few matches there but was hobbling around the court and periodically clutching his shoulder. At times the "pain" was so bad he would yell out "What am I doing here" or "why am I playing." He then took the rest of the year off citing burn out. He played the AO, but then had several months off due to injury. He then played a bit at Nice but defaulted a match. He then went to the French Open and had to serve half pace due to an agonising arm injury. Now he's arrived here and it's a shame he's had to play Wawrinka when he was sick.

Compared to Agassi, Sampras, Djoko, Fedal or even Courier, it's nothing. Especially since, unlike Murray, he doesn't have a truckload of master titles or an Olympic gold (or alternately a WTF accomplishment ) to back that up. (He's never been in top 2 either). Well, 2 Slam titles is not exactly nothing, is it? Outside of the Big 3, only he, Hewitt and Murray can boast of winning that many amongst current players. Plus he does have Olympic gold (albeit in doubles)! :wink:

He also has a WTF semi, a Davis cup, and his two major wins each included brutal take-downs of numbers one and two in the world.
He's not Murray yet by a long shot, but he was gracious enough to acknowledge that. So calling him arrogant or a tennis pleb is a pretty impressive achievement of stupidity!!
