His breakthrough season in 2005 aged 19, he wins MC, Rome, RG, Canadian Open and wins 11 titles by the end of the year. His 2006 season, he was aged 20. He wins MC, Rome, RG, is in the midst of a 81 clay win streak in all clay tournaments he participated in. Ends the year ranked number 2 and wins five titles overall. His 2007 season is similar and he wins his third roland garros, MC, ROME and Indian Wells and wins five titles overall and is ranked number 2.

From aged 19-21 Nadal won 3 grand slams at RG, 9 Masters 1000 titles, 22 titles overall. Ranked number 2 from 2005-2007 and reached multiple wimbledon finals from 2006-2007.

Why can players of today not emulate Baby Nadal and his success rate at this age? This used to be the norm in 70's/80s/90s. No player since Nadal has remotely come close to this kind of success in their late teens.

Yeah obviously, there were plenty of nadals in the 70s/80s/90s.

Nadal is a physical specimen. That is why.

Nothing to do with the year he spent away from competition where he was untested age 17. :D

Joking aside, why do some people win more? No offense but its a stupid question.

I'd bet there are less than a dozen players in the history of the sport with that kind of resume by 21. That's probably why it hasn't happened recently.

I don't think that kind of success was ever the norm. You had guys like Becker and Borg, and Chang that won slams as teenagers and more that I'm certainly forgetting, but it was never the norm and will probably never be the norm.

In short, Nadal was a prodigy. The guys in this era should've done something by now, but a player like Nadal is a rare breed that doesn't come along in every generation.

The teens today are not playing anywhere close to the level of Nadal in 2005. If they do, sure they will emulate the success of baby Nadal. Apparently, none of them is capable of playing at such level.
