I think Nick's ceiling is much higher but I think TK has a better shot at being a consistent 8-14 sort of player for a few years running.

Solid game I think. The more naturally athletic of the younger Australian players. From the matches I saw, he just has trouble defending his serve at times if he can't win a point in a few shots. Other than that his game is great. I hope to see him the top 10 at least

The only one of the young Aussies ever going anywhere is Nick. Tomic is a ridiculous tanker/choker/head case and Kokki is solid, but hardly spectacular. Nick is the only one with legit talent and a massive, massive weapon in his serve.

By all accounts this fellow should be put out to stud.

The Kokk comes across as too passive. Lacks that X factor that Kyrgios has, although as certain facts that have come to light he doesn't lack the XXX factor.

But we shall wait and see, the Kokk may rise hard and fast and shake up the 10 ten sooner rather than later, needs the killer instinct though. If he does he may just be known as Killer Kokk.

People hyped Kygrios up ever since beating Nadal at Wimbledon last year, which in itself is silly since beating Nadal on grass 2012-onwards is clearly NOT a big win. A top 30 caliber player (as Kygrios already is, and probably already was around Wimbledon last year despite his official rank at the time) is atleast 75% likely to beat Nadal on grass. Nadal is something like .600 at best on grass the last 4 years. His beating Raonic at Wimbledon was a much bigger win than beating Nadal on grass these days is, so I will give him credit for that. I still dont see the big wins people hype him up based on though. Beating Wawrinka here? He was too injured to even finish the match.

The bigger asset at this point in his career is the mentality/discipline/work ethic, which kokki seems to have in spades respective to his age.
I think this will serve him much better long term compared to the more "talented" kyrgios/tomic

Kokkinakis strikes me as a genuine competitor but not brilliantly talented. His progress seems to have stalled in the last 3 months, hopefully temporarily.

Seriously... Tomic has soared up 50 ranking spots to the top 25. Won a title, an additional semi-final and 7 more quarterfinals including Indian Wells. 2 top 10 wins ALL in 2015...
Kokkinakis is solid? He couldn't even make it through qualifying in Montreal. He's only won 12 main draw ATP matches... His biggest win was the 5 set defeat of Gulbis at the Aus Open and judging by Gulbis's performance this year (5-17 prior to this week) the win wasn't that shocking.
As for Nick, the way he's going he's due for a ban and seems to be injured every few months which affects his results. Tomic is the one shooting up the rankings, he's going up.

I think Kokki will end up having a better career than Tomic though :) he's barely 19.

Hopefully he can get past the first round of qualifying this time around. Looks like these guys are all flash and no substance at the moment!

Saw him practice w Ben Shelton last weekend. He's the oldest looking 20-something year old. Looks like he's done a lot of partying in his relatively short lifetime.
Very rude to fans and his team act like thugs. Did you see all the cheap butterfly tatts on his legs? I can't believe a guy that earned 5 million has tatts that pathetic. I was never a fan, but now really dislike him. He sure has a massive serve though and he's huge up close. He's got to be 6'5.

I definitely didn't like their shoutings of "you got it mate" "great mate" etc in the Alcaraz match.

Could you elaborate on what happened there? I'm not a massive fan, but I do appreciate how hard he's worked to overcome all the struggles he's had with injuries over the years, especially given how much hype he received when he was starting out.

Next to Ben Shelton, he looked like a skinny, but somehow flabby smoker/drinker.

At one point, he asked Ben how old he was.

Ben was all smiles on court, seemed like he was just happy to be out there.

Every time kokkinakis came into net, he seemed to lose the point. Crazy that he's a grand slam champ in dubs.

@JeMar Kokk had three guys in his box. One of them was quiet throughout and no bother. I just Googled who the other two were. Jona Segal is the fitness coach and Todd Langman is the primary coach. Yes, coaching is legal now, but they wouldn't shut up and they were really loud. They were constantly screaming, "come on, mate, f---ing do it!" and "mate, just fry him!" and all sorts of other stuff like that. Segal wasn't nearly as bad as Langman, who was totally obnoxious. During one of Kokk's practices, whenever a ball would come over from where Rune-Shapo were practicing, he'd throw it back and act like he was totally inconvenienced and angry about something so minor.

As for Kokk, he was rude to fans, plain and simple. He made fun of the old folks who asked for photos (eye rolling and hand gestures), and blew off the kids who wanted him to sign their big yellow tennis balls with a Sharpie. A couple people asked him about Nick and he just rolled his eyes and kept walking, not interacting with anyone. Just unpleasant.

I never have paid much attention to him but will never be a fan after seeing him. To his credit, he has an absolutely massive serve, he was serving 135-137 in practice and getting it in. He was going sleeveless in practice and looks very fit, so he must put in the work. Compared to how Alcaraz interacts with the fans, Carlos is a 10 and Kokk a 1. Kokk was way worse than Zverev was back in his worst days in IW in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Not that crazy. He has one of the best serves & best forehands in the world when they are firing and can play at a very high level, but often doesn't due to a lot of negativity. Today he seemed very tentative for a big part of the match, especially at the start, probably not feeling confident, which is not surprising coming up against a super talented, aggressive & athletic world no 2 who was world no 1 and probably will be again soon. On top of this, he often tries to paint the edge of the sidelines, which isn't really necessary when you have that much power & isn't generally worth the risk. Instead of just going aggressive through the middle to gain confidence & overpower the opponent he overcomplicates things & goes for the clean winner too early sometimes. & he also gets very negative after a bad point & loses most of the next dozen points because he's thinking about the one bad point instead of being positive about the next one (like quite a few players, Fokina comes to mind). Who knows how well he takes care of his health these days. Apparently wasn't getting much sleep at the last Adelaide tournament and was surviving on red bull.

He seems to only play well on one particular court in Adelaide, then spends the rest of the year barely winning any matches.

I remember thinking he would be a decent top 20 player when he was younger, then he had some bad luck with injuries. Last year he was injury free for the full season though and couldn’t surpass his career best ranking from 2015 when he was 19 years old. I guess he’s just not that good after all

That's indeed horrible. What's with this current generation of Aussies (the top prospects, at least - Kokk, Nick and Tomic)? They're a pack of undisciplined dopes. The Aussie legends of yesteryear must be dying inside watching these clowns.

Club/party culture is huge in Australia. Lots of athletes are lost to it. The most talented are able to party and still compete at a decent level.

After Hewitt I thought all Aussies were die-hard brawlers. At least Popyrin seems to put in the effort even if he doesn't have consistent results (yet?).
