Maybe if you stopped referring to him as an “a$$hole” with that dated nickname that didn’t stick he might do betterer.I felt sad about the way Felix played the final, he was struggling all the match, he was not playing free as the others days, he was nervous and over hit in order to get winners instead of constructing the points at the end when all was almost done he finally played a bit better.
Hope to see him play better in the next final i dont want a Bennetau´s sindrome.
Vamos Small Collin!!!!
Nope i don't think so and the nickname is just a thing of the first felix fans, so take it easy!!!Maybe if you stopped referring to him as an “a$$hole” with that dated nickname that didn’t stick he might do betterer.
Eye remember the small cadre of “fans” that tried to make the ridiculous name stick. It didn’t, thankfully.Nope i don't think so and the nickname is just a thing of the first felix fans, so take it easy!!!
Vamos Felix The Cat!!!
Hear, hear - way too much talk about choking yesterday. Monfils played way back and got to everything and hit it back solidly forcing Felix to go for too much and Felix's serve let him down. Even then he made some adjustments. Felix will find ways to beat these guys.Felix has a lot of talent and I don't have doubt about that. However, he's still very young and I feel many expect way too much of him. Give him time to develop and learn. He has a wonderful team around him, and he has a great attitude. I don't worry about his future, and I feel certain big titles are in his future.
Why would it?Eye remember the small cadre of “fans” that tried to make the ridiculous name stick. It didn’t, thankfully.
He's young, but so far he often does not perform well in pressure situations. I hope he can turn that around. His game is also boring, so I hope he's able to add some variety. He seems like a great kid (and that is confirmed by a friend who knows him and his family), so I wish him all the best.Hear, hear - way too much talk about choking yesterday. Often his game can be boring, but then it can take on a different level at times. The contrast with the Sinner game was excruciatingly painful when he played and Sinner played matches back to back. I actually think he will become a great clutch player, I've seen some signs of that, not just in the heavens. No doubt at all that he's a great kid. He's young, but so far he often does not perform well in pressure situations. I hope he can turn that around. Yeah... for many of the others, they probably had to overachieve and/or have some luck to even make it to the finals. Not too relevant. Felix has four finals in a year at the age of 18/19. Looking through the list there are a lot of players who reached their first final into their 20s. Many of them took several years to reach their fourth or fifth final before their win.
Ironically, the career trajectory is most similar to the guy who extended his winless finals streak with just one exception...Monfils won his very first ATP final a bit more than a year after dominating the junior slams. Felix took a bit more time to reach his first final but has now lost four of them in less than a year. Monfils lost his next four in a bit more than 1.5 years and two more in another 20 months.Yeah... for many of the others, they probably had to overachieve and/or have some luck to even make it to the finals.
For FAA, given that he's reached four finals before he's even 20, the indications are he's actually good enough to make finals on a regular basis, and if he keeps putting himself in that position, he's going to break through sooner rather than later.
Of course, anything can change, but from the list, FAA's career trajectory is looking more like Bjorn Borg than Florian Mayer.
... and again!Yikes, barely squeaked by. Good character win, saving two match points.
The head is his strength having saved two match points in his last match and three match points in this one. Fantastic match for Felix who joins two other Canadians in the quarters for the first time at an ATP tournament in Men's singles. Also commerations to Herbert who played a gritty match, a fantastic match. His head is his weakness.
If Simon loses to Medvedev(likely) then zero French players left, leaving Felix with the player with the best French credentials for the crowd.Felix could become a crowd favorite after that one. Felix said "his return of my smash was incrediable"
I haven’t seen the match. Good if his head was strong. I still believe it’s his biggest weakness. I think his young age and huge expectations placed on him are the culprit. Time will tell I guess. The head is his strength having saved two match points in his last match and three match points in this one. My belief is that Felix will be known to be a clutch player as his career develops, but who knows, watch and see.I haven’t seen the match. Good if his head was strong. I watched the replay of the last set and got to admit Felix looked great in critical points. Hopefully he can carry this confidence all the way to the finals. My belief is that Felix will be known to be a clutch player as his career develops, but who knows, watch and see.
You can't jump from 0-4 to 1-5 in one tournament, silly. Is this the week that Felix ties Federer at exactly 1-5 in finals before the age of 20?
Good catch, Federer was 1 win 3 losses making 4 finals. There was no other way for me to push the math except to outright lie and hope no one was smart enough to catch me doing it.You can't jump from 0-4 to 1-5 in one tournament, silly.
@Sparlingo displayed his faulty math yesterday concerning odds for Canadian titles (100% chance due to 4 QFists). There’s still two alive but it won’t be 100% guaranteed until a second MP is won, eh?You can't jump from 0-4 to 1-5 in one tournament, silly.
I was doing that on the dubious basis that 4 quarters is equal to a dollar.@Sparlingo displayed his faulty math yesterday concerning odds for Canadian titles (100% chance due to 4 QFists). There’s still two alive but it won’t be 100% guaranteed until a second MP is won, eh?
I shall continue my search for a decent accountant elsewhere.

That loon equals only 3/4 of a greenback.I was doing that on the dubious basis that 4 quarters is equal to a dollar.

That's an impressive statCould be two 50 cent pieces for Canada if Raonic beats Opelka tonight. It's one 50 cent piece anyway with Felix winning in straights, the one I care about. Now you ask: what is the latest first for Felix? He's the first male player to five finals before their 20th birthday since Nadal.
I’m confused: both Joe Kovic and Anduh Murrah are cited by Tennis TV tweet as members of that club and they are a year younger than The Nadal.Could be two 50 cent pieces for Canada if Raonic beats Opelka tonight. That's a pretty impressive list. I wonder how many went on to win? Someone asked on the Denis thread whether the 2 are still friends. I don't see why they wouldn't be, but I can also imagine that Denis finds it a bit difficult to cope with the fact that his younger friend seems to be eclipsing him - for now. The future isn't written, but Felix's looks bright.
