Very nice video showing what the end goal will be. Looks really good.

I was waiting to see the Rafa Nadal statue, couldn't see it.

Luv the design with the roof on the North side. Not so sure they can redo Chatrier in under a year, but no one will fault them if it goes over just as long as the stadium is still usable without the roof quite done.

I'm going for a few days in the first week, but I'm not planning on tickets for Chatrier this year, so I'll have to wait to see what it's like. I am hoping to get tickets for the new court Simonne-Mathieu for one day though. It looks a bit isolated from the rest – I'm hoping not to need to "dash" between that and Court 18 at any point! It's great they've extended the grounds though. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done with some of the outside courts – last year they'd vastly improved the space to watch courts 7 & 9, and it looks like they've done similar for some of the others. I miss the old Court 2 with its quirky charm, and I'm not sure yet if its partner Court 3 is still there – it was last year.

The new (last year) Court 18 has great viewing and is easy to get onto, as you can enter and exit from anywhere around the perimeter. My one gripe is that in building it they obliterated one of only three drinking water points they had on the whole site (and the only one on the far side of Lenglen). Down to two last year (and the weather was hot, so the queues were always long). It's hard to believe in the "sustainability" message they try to promote, when they provide so little free drinking water – clearly to make sure of huge sales of plastic bottled water from their sponsors. The other three slams have plenty of drinking water points.

Not happening till rafa plays

the problem is not indoor, is the surface.
he can win rg even if it is indoor.
he is the goat surface.
he is better on clay than Federer on grass, than Djokovic on hardcourt, than Mcenroe on carpet, than Borotra on wood.
he does not have impossible on clay.
he is above all them.
;).

I'd agree with the 2nd point,
Rafa is greater on clay than any player on any surface

They should leave the statue til he retires anyway, it's like people wanting a court in Basel named after Federer, feels weird to have those honours while a player is still active

Night matches at Roland Garros will be awesome.

Night match is a bizarre idea. It is out of rhythm with the human body, and I can only imagine how tough it is to be physically on top AND being fully concentrated for 4 hours, while the system tells every cell in the body to prepare for shut-down :alien:

Only people that have never been to RG and are not aware of the niceties of the natural interruption of a long day of tennis by the Parisian evening that extends to other entertainment lament the lack of lights.

Of course, there won't be a lot of tennis after dusk. Just like at Wimbledon.

i dont like a pc with a roof because of the shadow on court...but i don´t get it for years that rg don´t have lights on the courts. they need light on the courts, so that they can play longer any day.

You misunderstood. I meant, if I have the time when I am in Paris in the autumn. Hopefully RG will be finished before then.

 Oh, I see...well, that sounds good. Do they do tours when the French Open isn't on? I've been going to the tournament for years, but it would be interesting to see the place without the crowds – you'd get a different perspective.

True…

(and I'm French).

They should have moved the whole stadium to another location and make a new FO "a la Melbourne Park". The old site is too small (and too close from a big motorway, which nobody never talks about…).

Make it a one weekend affair - one day for exhos, another for a Nadal-Djokovic final.

Saves money, time, and the environment.

They need to speed up the clay surface by adding some Green clay underneath. color will turn purple but that is ok for viewing, still will have good contrast with the ball on TV. Anyway, by speeding it up, it will be much more fun to watch and RAFA can't win it for 15 times in a row
