WTF?????

Looks like it has the same specs as the MGPM...

I thought these austrian sticks had a different set-up to allow for customization?

Very Strange.

I was under the impression that since the Austrian-made Prestiges were graphite/twaron, the Prestige-based frames now made for touring pros would have the same composition. Apparently it is otherwise.

Was Twaron discontinued in pro frames at the same time (transition from Intelligence line to Liquidmetal line, I guess) as in the consumer frames?

Hey Drak:

Well I mean 1 is a 93 and one I believe is a 98.
Personally I have always liked smaller head rackets. I think the smaller the head the easier it is to whip around and get through the air. I also think that with a smaller head the racket is more stable.
Its a good racket good access to spin, I tried the 98 16x19 (the pro) I think the 93 for me is more stable and I have much better control. I dont have any power issues, I would say the 98 gives you more power, however the 93 is much more solid.

Can one actually feel the 62 flex on this racquet?
And how's the control on this vs K90? And power vs K90?

Great! I would by one in a second if they came with: TW leather grip and more importantly - old fashioned wilson-ish head pallet...

At least TWO errors on the TW page:
1) String Pattern
2) It is NOT Made in Austria...as all TGKs are still Made in China

When I purchased my MGPM TGK237.1, I got them before the regular Mid was released to the public. I was assured by Roman Prokes (personally), they were made in Austria. He stated he received them with-out the grip/pallets directly from Austria where they are manufactured. Also, our very own, VSBabolat (the all-knowing) states they are manufactured in Austria.

Not saying you are wrong, just repeating what I was told.

Actually, VSBab agrees with me, I believe.
We had this discussion before.

The TGK rackets are Made in China, sent to the Pro Room that is in Austria for the final touches, then sent to...

The only rackets MADE in Austria are PT57x, PT10, PT161 and some Player custom sticks (Murray, Novak, Sveta...)

VSBabolat can confirm...

From the thread I started reviewing the Microgel Prestige Mid (TGK237.1)

The racquets with the code in the throat are made in Austria. HEAD still manufactures 50,000 racquets in Austria for the Pros on Tour and people in the know. The following quote is from HEAD's announcement that they will be manufacturing all racquets for the consumer in China. http://investor.head.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=123990&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=699494&highlight=
Head's global tennis operations will continue to be run from Austria. Key functions such as research and development, quality control, marketing and sales and logistics functions in the Racquet Sports Division, as well as a limited production of approximately 50,000 racquets will remain at the Kennelbach site. This entire set up will ensure that current quality standards will be maintained and Head will be able to retain its technological leadership

I am actually really curious about this frame. I play with the MGPP and also have a mid. I've often thought that I would like to hit the mid with a more open pattern. I may just have to pick one of these up for sh!ts and grins.

Could be either way, I thought he agreed with me on the TGK theory, but I may be wrong. By the "Codes" I believe he was talking the "PT..."

The TGKs are, UNLIKE the PT57, 10, 161, sold to the public. You cannot get the PT57/10/161 from a store, customizer, or Head.

But again, my guess...

actually, he was saying the opposite. In the post I provided, he was responding to geesechops. Here is the link to the entire post:

He makes it clear they are manufactured in Austria.

so are these 18x20 or 16x19? why is there no 4 1/2 grip? hmm...
There was yesterday, as well as 4 3/8's. Looks like they've already sold out of both 4 1/2's and 4/ 3/8's and only have 4 5/8's left. I'm sure they had very limited stock of these as they were meant for the pros, so they sold out of them quick. Not surprising as you can't get them anywhere else.

i wonder if they will get more?
I highly doubt it. These are usually one time deals, just like when TW had the Wilson pro stock PS 6.0 85 and 95 with the PS Tour 90 and 95 paintjobs a few years ago. They both sold out within a couple of days. Not many of these are made and even fewer are left over from the manufacturer that didn't get sent to a sponsored pro that are given to TW to sell. The only reason that Head sent these leftovers to TW is that their sponsored pros are now switching over to the YouTek Prestige paintjobs of their TGK237.2's so no more need for the ones leftover with the Microgel Prestige paintjob. The same thing happened when Wilson switched from the PS Tour 90/95 paintjob to the nCode 90/95 paintjob.

Sorry you missed out. :(

Blah! Blah! Blah! Manufacturing for all other racquets will be farmed out to ??? land to achieve the lowest cost possible to retain profitability ......
