The oldest sf ever

Tornes

Semi-Pro
This is the oldest semifinal at grand slam since 76. Fed is 35, Wawrinka 31, Rafa 30, Dimitrov 25. Mean age of this four players is just above 30 years of age for the first time in the Open Era history. As far as I know it is also the only time in history when 3 out of 4 players in SF are older than 30.

This is really not good for young and middle generation. However it is really cool for the old one ;)

Edit: not ever, since 76.

1976 Australian Open had Ken Rosewall (41), John Newcombe (31), Ray Ruffels (29), and Mark Edmondson (21) for an average age of 30.5 vs. 30.25 for this year's Australian Open. Only two of the players were 30+, though.

It's OK because there's no way Ray Ruffels is a real person. Cartoon characters have no actual age since they have no passports.

It's been a marvelous two weeks for tennis.

We've seen glimpses of the next gen with Zverev Thiem and even Goffin (late bloomer).

We see the current guard get eliminated in Raonic Nishi Murrovic. We see the older guard in Rafa Fed and Wawa show we're not done yet.

Possible Williams Final too.

1977 World Snooker Championship semi-Joe Davis 63 vs John Pullman 53-116 years combined.

This dude alone beats them by 29 years.

A lot of since-Rosewall/Connors records are being set. We're back to the times when old goats routined peak pretenders every so often; for how long, I wonder.

As far as I know, ATP is record old (something like top 50 -100 I don't remember).
