Some fluorescent colors are out of gamut of what the camera can capture or your screen reproduce. Due to that they appear as a somewhat arbitrary closest color that can be displayed.

I remember the Project One Seven (new Pure Strike of the time) officially came out and was in stock to purchase in Sep of 2016. So it still is a 3 year cycle.

It's actually a true red now. The color in the pics is pretty accurate

The Pure Strike is the perfect frame for his style of play. I hit with one last night just for fun, and it's all high rpms and rhs. Very stable for a sub 12oz frame, and not too stiff either. The ball really jumps off the strings when you hit the sweetspot. Nice controlled rage and so easy to use.

Beautiful to watch! Thanks for posting! He swings across the ball an awful lot on the down the line backhand, and it can get a little early Boris Becker punchy with that hammer grip, but he's strong and talented enough to get away with it. Forehand looks that bit more sublime.

To be fair, videos from this angle show the true fury of balls hit on the ATP. But Thiem is a monster, TC just flashed a stat: Fastest average FH: Thiem 81 mph; Delpo and Basilashvili at 80. BH: Thiem at 77 mph, Anderson and Dimitrov at 76.

Didn't he switch to the new version and it's not just a PJ? The headguard doesn't have the bump pattern of the OG black/red pure strike. Also, I saw pictures on Babolat's FB page: throat grommets look different (not woofer) and I don't see the grooves on the inside of 3 and 9 found on the OG Strike.

He did according to the forum. My post was meant to point out that he is also now sporting the appropriate paint job.

I think 'the forum', at least the more skeptical among us, are still waiting for more actual evidence; the 'new' racquet is still endorsed by, not used by Thiem, Babolat aren't declaring otherwise, and an early report has declared that version 3 is very similar to version 2, which Thiem didn't switch to. There is a substantial possibility that he is using a pro stock hybrid mash up that would be very similar to version 1, the model which he has enjoyed substantial success with.

Everything I’ve heard is that he made the switch the new Gen 3 in January. Obviously can’t confirm but it came from a pretty reliable source.

Heard different from a store owner who had the rep in his store .... the new one has a more angled beam. If I get in the play test I’ll compare it to my 2014 pure strike. I kinda hope he is using it.

I have a black strike from when they first came out. Thiem's racket doesn't have the grommet at the throat that has those built in power-pad type plastic grooves.

I like the fact that he uses tournagrip red tape in practice but puts the Babolat tape on for matches
