The journey is the destination! No matter what you've achieved, the horizon is still the same distance away from you!

Ok heres the video, gets dark at the end, but the ball hits the fence while still in the air, and fence is around 53 yards away, so total maybe high 50s. Full screen reqd

Nice throw. I definitely think throwing a football is closer to serving than throwing a baseball. I've seen pictures of Ljubicic throwing a weighted football as part of his serve training.
However, throwing anything is somewhat specialized. I can easily bring 100mph on my serve on a good day and I don't have much of an arm for throwing a football or a baseball.
I'm down to 47 yards, first try, no warmups.
I like how you know its 47 yards and not 50 or 42. Do you only throw footballs when are next to a football field?
I hang out most days at the CalSailingClub.....SuperDuy knows it.
The lightpoles, both over 30' high, are exactly 150 feet apart.
Something that even YOU can figure out....stand near one, toss to the other !
For me, 50 SHOULD be an easy toss. I've gone as far as 75 in high school, well over 60 in 7th grade. Houses in my block, the SunsetDistrict of SanFrancisco, are exactly 30' wide. Count the houses. I normally threw a little over 7 houses distance.
It's not rocket science.

Superduy's got a cannon.
I guess the arm motion for a football throw is pretty similar, but I still think a baseball throw is more so. When you throw a football, you have to roll it off the fingers to get a spiral. In baseball, if you're not throwing a curveball or something, there's no spin, the release is more similar to a serve.
Edit
nevermind, just saw a video of joe montana saying pronation creates a spiral, lol.
After reading this entire thread, I suspect LeeD may have been the best athlete that posts on these boards in his prime.
I propose the LeeD challenge to any of you who think you can measure up.
I was suspecting this was the case and about to post about football pass pronation when I saw your Montana reference. I threw the football wrong for years before discovering the power of pronation in my throws.
Good find on the Montana ref.
I used to throw 70+ yards as a little kid.
The key is a relaxed motion and just throw up the bal up and rotate core.
