does higher gauge cross cut into main strings faster? I’ve been using 18g crosses and simply destroying my mains, I’m wondering if I used 17g crosses, would it be more durable for my mains? For reference, I’ve been usually using a shaped copoly main like solstice power or Xperience.

im using the diadem elevate tour. I didn’t think that was pertinent but anyway i was just wondering how gauge thickness in crosses affects durability in mains?

Hmmm... Interesting. It was a pertinent question only because open pattern sticks tend to burn through string faster. Yeah, you might try bumping both cross and mains one gauge. Out of curiosity, how many hours of play are getting before a string pops?
i had signum pro xperience 17L mains //SPPP 18g crosses at 52/50 and mains snapped after 5 hours, then i put in diadem solstice power 17g mains // isospeed cream 16L and the crosses snapped after about 4-5 hours which bewilders me cuz i never break crosses. I am aggressive 4.0 baseliner and use heavy spin game except when flattening out shots for winners. The elevate has such an open pattern I have to restring every week. Usually i can get about 10 hours before string snaps but lately it’s been only 4-5 hours. Racquet is nice but I dont know if I enjoy restringing every week [emoji21]

I received these as a demo from the company, and I have been very impressed with them. I had been playing a hybrid of Gosen Sheep/Prince Tour XR, which feels very plush, and even though this string is obviously a lot more firm feeling, it is not to the point of being uncomfortable. The thing that has struck me the most about this string is how well it holds tension. After 4 hitting sessions with some good players, I haven't noticed any real drop in tension.
Did you tried the durafluxx/GW combo? Can you report how it was?

Yes I did.. I strung it at 22kg both mains and crosses as the others. I did not like it as much as the other hybrids and I suspect that was because durafluxx is very low powered compared to GW. I like gw as a cross when the main has equal or more power... If I was to try it again (and I will at some point) I would string gw crosses a little higher than durafluxx mains.. something like 21/22kg. That said I had very good spin and comfort but not as much control as I would like.
My favorite all poly setups right now are solstice power/gw, oehms black pearl rough/gw and fb durafluxx. alu/gw is also very nice.
Thanks. I order 2 sets of GW 18 g and I thought durafluxx could work well with GW. I will give it a try and will test also some other combos with GW.
A thinner gauge didn't rip through the gut?
How would you compare GW and Cream on control spin durability comfort feel in a full bed and in an hybrid set up wth Gut?

Tour bite 18.. head hawk for some reason too .. to me it’s on par with iso speed professional “ comfort “ with rpm blast 16 spin .. for me it’s the best comfort poly on the market hands down .did I say it’s white !. White !

I have. Still have a half set left. I like GW better.
I have played an hour with VS touch mains and GW 17G as a cross. I like that set up but need more time to evaluate it properly. IMO Cream 16g as a cross played better. More comfort power and spin.

I'd prefer natural, but I'll take it
6 hours with GW. I love this string...Hopefully it will reach the 10 hour mark.

I’m still liking it a lot too . Jury is still out though however . I love it I do!

I don't know which gauge to get.
A shame they don't sell 100m reels....I really like the feel and the snap back with gut. It feels like hitting with alu power without the discomfort.
I don't want to play with a full bed poly. Too arm sensitive.

I've done Ghost in the crosses with vSquare and Black Pearl Rough. I'd imagine that Firewire would work well. I have done many Firewire with Baseline Speed & Spin often and enjoyed it.

How do you like the BPR/GW? Gauges and tension? I always go back to that hybrid in 18x20 frames..

I have hit with it briefly in a Clash 98 before I sold it to my friend. He played with the same strings and like it enough that I just restrung it again. 1.25 47# CP. For my personal taste, I would probably string an 18m frame 43-45#

I did just try that my last restring on the SV98+ I received a 5 pack as a gift so decided to string it up like Firewire Boost, but using ½ pack of each. 1.2mm FIrewire and 1.17 Ghostwire @ 49/46lbs, vs my usual Volkl Cyclone 1.1mm/ Pro Red Code Wax 1.2mm 49.5/46.5lbs. Both racquets are balanced/ swing weighted the same without strings. I like my swing weight to be in the 351-355 range. The T1 combo weighed in slightly lighter by 0.4g, which is weird considering VC is a full 0.1mm thinner than FW. I'm guessing the triangle shape may have something to do with that. I do not have swing weight measurements, so going by feel.

Firewire as a main to me is a control string. Spin is good, but nothing special. Ghostwire reminds me of a thinner Poly Tour Pro, and I'm going to test PTP1.15mm as a cross next, as I'm looking to change my cross strings since PRCW is gone.

Comfort is good. Using 1.25 BHS7T/1.17 GW. Spin and control are awesome. In case this is not comfy enough just substitute GW with Velocity. Also nice set up.
How's the launch angle? I noticed with a full bed it launched a few in a very odd manner
Revolve is a great cross string. I think you’d like its super slickness which is great for cross string but a tad softer than PRCW. Ghostwire and PTP are smooth round polys but they dont have that slickness of a poly tour fire/revolve/cream type of string. I use VCT 16g mains which are amazing (better version of quadro twist). VCT 16g/revolve 17g orange is my holy grail setup at 40/36lbs in my weighted up vcp100. I tried VCT/ghostwire at 40/37 and didnt care for it much. Revolve [emoji521] all the way!

Revolve loses tension too fast and doesn't have a thinner 1.2mm or less. The silicone coating also like the PE coating on the PRCW, in that it get shredded away by the mains. I like thin polys cos they give a bit more feel and bite, and snap around the same time the tension lost is unbearable. In my Playsight tests, PTFire and PRCW had a smidge more spin than Revolve as crosses (on avg about 20 rpm), most likely because they were 1.2mm, while Revolve was 1.25mm. I couldn't tell much difference in slickness, but PTF definitely lasted the longest, because the silicone is infused vs coatings with PRCW and Revolve. Doesn't matter for PRCW, since it's discontinued. I'm afraid the slicked round co-polys are a niche market. I haven't seen any new silicone/PE coated slicks out lately.
