Tilt Shoulders or Turn for Serve Power?

For years I consciously tried to "turn" my shoulders to add power to my serve but lately tried a new technique someone suggested to me. Instead of a turn of my shoulder on the wind-up, I tilt my shoulders (tossing arm and shoulder higher than my throwing side.

Results I have noticed are consistent power, easier to time and execute and I still get ample shoulder turn. Has anyone tried this technique to help their serve? I am able to hit up better and the power of my kick and all serves have improved with less effort on my part

Do you do that by pushing the non-dominant hip into the court during the toss?

Actually I do feel a little more of a loading/leaning of the hip also, forgot to mention it. I guess when I do this technique my body resembles a bow and there seems to be more effortless energy that I never felt before. Seems like I don't have to swing as hard to get the same results.

I know what you mean. Very good idea.
And here’s the best example for it:

Notice how Sampras has an exaggerated tilt of his shoulders! I have kind of used his technique as a model to copy only now I use a pinpoint stance.

Good stuff. I think you're on the right track.

Our human brains can only process one direction at a time, and the serve has more than one -- up, forward, rotate. It's pretty much the up and forward motion which can gel together as one direction is the one that you should focus on.
