Pretty much agree with this. I notice that he really can't generate his own pace, and just kind of swats it back -- really weird, ugly strokes. The best I could ever see him getting would be like a Gilles Simon.He doesn't have any big weapons but at his best, Tomic can be a tricky player to play even with his obvious weaknesses.
He has an okay serve, and is good with changing his shots with slice.
Flat forehand has decent pace and can confuse players not used to his play style, but is rarely used to blast winners.
Good touch and anticipation but held back by his poor movement and fitness.
That's pretty much it, though I suppose his disguise on drop shots is relatively impressive.
Of course his biggest flaw is his effort and lack of fight. Wouldn't really call him mentally weak, but he sure isn't strong in that department.
Also a mildly interesting fact is that he leads the H2H 5-1 against Verdasco. Pretty surprising

They are total polar opposites. Gilles is a pusher on steroids. Tomic's game revolves and touch, feel, placement, etc.
it's a pity he couldn't sort out his personal problems/depression and develop as a person, and leave that stupid WWF wrestling persona he's cultivated behind him. It's good for tennis to have a multitude of styles, and not just a horde of ballbashing clones.

yeh, wrong thread. Didn't realize it was a previous match thread. he was looking a bit lazy when i tuned in at 2-3 BP down. He did well to win after the other guy was serving for the match at 5-3. The other guy in the #300's didn't look too crash hot.

I laughed at the dropshot which I think was at 30-0. Just so easy, was like he was tanking but winning. His game is crazy to watch.

Even though the Germans created a word specifically for it, it's a feeling people have had all around the world throughout history. Thinking about it poking fun at people is part of a lot of comedy acts.
That's what I like about his game. His nonchalance reminds me of Mecir, but they're very different in other ways.

He is playing grass court tennis on clay , so that's interesting to see. The top guys have seen Tomic enough and they've worked him out, but this style would feel very awkward for guys who play him for the first time.

He is getting slaughtered. Some decent droppers. Problem is Tomic can't just rely on drop shots as his big weapon.
