Like the guy told me if anyone complains he‘ll take it out and tie one below the bottom cross. Even though we all know it is an illegal placement of a dampener I doubt it gives him an advantage. He said no one he has played has ever said anything.I'm shocked you'd partake in such blatantly illegal activities like placing a dampening device there.
I must admit I took a double take when I saw the IID (Irvin Illegal Dampener/Damper). I was shocked, I say, shocked to see that Irvin had turned to illegal activities. But then again, maybe the post was cathartic for the guilt he is living with.
You must be playing too much USTA...Yes, that is an illegal damper where it is placed.
This will be reported and removed (as my post the other day was). Panties in a wad, and diarrhea of the keyboard.
this made my Friday!
I have a strong feeling we would enjoy a beer and a left handed cigarette together.
I have done 2 frames total, and I average 2 hours per frame for now .......... ok, the 2nd frame was for my brother so I took lots of care (excess of confidence on the first frame and I missweaved...). and I struggle on a lot of things, like :
- get the right length for strings : I started to log things, b.c. I was short on the crosses for my first frame (16x19), I wonder if it is possible to do a 2 piecies 18x20 with a single set (and a drop weight)
- get the fixed clamps tuned correctly, i.e. no slippage -I did get it sadly - and no ghosting on multi (maybe it's not possible ?) : that's quite a sport to find the sweet tuning of the clamps ! I did not find a howto video by the way, explaining some technique to get the correct clamp gripping force without hurting the string (pull tension directly against clamp ? I doubt it)
- plan ahead for tight tieoff locations - babolat aeropro - ......... and thanks @Irvin for your very useful videos ! (so I did not have to do a knot from the underside)
If you’re stringing an 18x20 with a set of string do not cut the set in half. Use a short side long enough to reach the tensioner after stringing all the mains. How long that is will depend on the stiffness of the string and the head size. After stringing the mains you will have a long section of string you cut off one side. Use a starting knot and that piece of string to string the crosses and you will be fine. It may be a good idea to keep a log of the head size, number of mains, number of crosses, string stiffness, and required length to determine how long your string should be. Stringing a 16x19 600 cm^2 racket with a soft string will require less string than an 18x20 800 cm^2 racket with a stiff string.I wonder if it is possible to do a 2 piecies 18x20 with a single set (and a drop weight)

I run right at 15 minutes a frame unless I rush.
Could you post a video of you doing that? I would love to see someone string a racquet in 15 minutes. I can't imagine what it must look like.
Watched that the other week and was pretty impressed by it. There is no way it’d ever get to anywhere near that time. LolI saw his video on this a few days ago.
Gotta love the YouTube algorithm. Gives me a lot of insight on my psyche - lolWatched that the other week and was pretty impressed by it. There is no way it’d ever get to anywhere near that time. Lol
Yep.
Yep. Karma wanted to see it and i came across it a few days earlier.
Yep.
btw - are you still waiting? Is it day 40? Lol
Hope Sally treated you okWhen I was done, the stop watch read: LAME
Thanks Irvin. I am fine. The chimney got scared and decided to jump for it but face planted into the roof before hitting the patio. Roofers already fixed it. I was super fortunate. Lots of people just got power today. I think I had mine on Thursday.Hope Sally treated you ok

nice one & awesome Prince setup too - enjoyed that.
....except that now the vibration dampener is now in the "field" of the strings and therfore the racket is not legal for USTA competition. You can only have dampeners OUTSIDE the field of woven cross strings. Looks very cool though - but it's not legal. Sorry.Babolat Pure Strike 18x20 Lux ALU Power 125 @59#

It takes me longer to weave in a rubber band than it does to weave a cross. This client used to tie in a #64 rubber band until I started weaving it in for him.

I would assume you meant the ITF rules regarding placement of a dampener. What is there to be sorry about? I’m not playing with it the the client knows the consequences. When he asked for it I told him the ITP rules. His answer was if someone complains I’ll cut it out, no big deal. I hate any kind of dampener Or muted strings.

Reminds me of the George Brett pine tar incident.

I usually wait for my terrible 2/3 goes to bed, then I just got the wife to deal with while stringing. LolWorst time for me was ~2 hours. Most of the time spent finding the tools (Awl, clamp, pliers etc.)
I have a terrible 2 at home. He would take tools from tool tray and disappear.
Once he gets the tool, it is tough to get it back unless a replacement is given that he likes to play with.
