What an incredible quarter final line up at Queen's..

Semi-Pro
Nadal vs Karlovic
Roddick vs Murray
Hewitt vs Djokovic
Gasquet vs Nalbandian

I think Karlovic will be a test for Nadal but we shall see. Roddick vs Murray will be a huge match as neither players are the most consistent when it comes to big matches. Hewitt vs Djokovic - enough said - 2 determined players on court. Gasquet vs Nalbandian - another seeded match with more quality.

Nadal had a close match against Karlovic, no break of serve in the whole match and Nadal took the last two tiebreaks.

Murray withdrew due to injury, so Roddick is through to face Nadal in the semi.

Djokovic looks on top against Hewitt, leading by one set and one break.

I sure am glad no one posts spoilers in "general" discussion.

this is the first time since 1990 the top 4 seeds have reached the semis. nadal-roddick is gonna be a great match. i pick roddick in two tight sets.

It comes down to how many aces he can hit. Karlovic hit an average of three aces per game (more when Nadal had break points), and only lost because of three points in two tiebreaks. Three points, folks. If he had hit two more aces, he would have won. He lost the second set by one point and won the first set by one point.

So, if Roddick can hit three aces per game and hit two more aces than Karlovic, he'll win the match.

Roddick's serve is not better then Karlovic's though. Karlovic has the best serve in the game, but many dont acknowledge it just because he is not a big name.

Roddick doesn't have to serve better than Karlovic because he has better movement and groundstrokes. Together with a serve that is nearly as good as Dr Ivo, you've got a perenial top 10 player.

It should be a really entertaining match.

I used to not understand when people said hitting all those aces deprived you of watching a match, made me see what they meant. That was an awesome display of serving today. It makes you realize how strong Nadal must be mentally to see all those balls whizzing by that he couldn't get a racket on, and keep playing and believing in his chances. If it was anybody but Nadal, I would have wanted to see Karlovic win. I mean, the guy had a monstrous serve, excellent volleys and still lost because of three measly points in the breakers. That said, I'm glad Nadal got through, now got to sit through another serving clinic with Roddick!

i was just talking about this particular event. yes, the top 4 reached the semis at monte carlo this year, but im just talking about queens club.

and superstition, as others have alluded, u're assuming ivo and roddick have the exact same game. roddick has a nearly as good serve, but better everything else.

Wait, three aces per game? That makes no sense. He played 18 games on his serve, not including tiebreaks, and hit 35 aces. That's an average of just under two aces per game, not three.

I count the serve returns that Nadal hit outside the court, straight up into the air, and so forth. Just because someone gets a racquet on it doesn't mean they have a shot of it going in.

What's with this mispelling "than" to "then". They are two completely different words with entirely different meaning. I have seen this mistake time and time again in this forum. Do they teach "than" to "then" in your part of the world or something? I'm just curious because I have seen it too many times.
