Where are you, rafa and roger??

The hype can as well turn out to be premature and get medvedev overconfident
Possibly but i think he has the mentality to handle it.

And I for one hope the hype ends up being correct. Tennis needs someone like him to do well, I find him a breath of fresh air. And honestly I don’t even really find him obnoxious, I mean he barely even celebrates winning points.

It's still not stopped.
He needs to do it again, just like he did in Canada & new york this year & roger in Miami earlier this season..
One more 6-3 6-0 or 6-4 6-2 is required (uso could very well be 6-4 6-3 6-4 if bull didn't turn sheet)
Why are you mentioning Rafa? You are like screaming for Rafa to stop the Russian. Well, Rafa is doing it, on fast and slow HC.
He will probably do that again. Rafa got nervy in USO final, that’s what happened. Winning that slam probably gave Rafa a big confidence boost, imagine. Rafa finally dealt w the ghosts in his mind during important 5 set matches.

Rafa momentarily stopped it in Canada, though Rafa beating Medvedev in that USO epic added more fuel to the hype train lol

The guy wins matches and tournaments like it's a walk in the park, dude wins Masters 1000s and barely manages a smile :) I like his calm demeanor, another day at the office for the Russian. His base level is awesome.

i love how hes really focused like that, but he has a sharp wit and personality that he nicely compartmentalizes

I'm screaming for both fedal to do it, just take down medvedev once more in straight sets.
They both have the variety, gameplan and techniques to bring the hype train back to earth.

Both are too old, just acquiesce to the changing of the guard.
It's actually not the case, medvedev is getting away with weird low-power game that is yet unreadable for most of the tour excluding fedal..
They need to bring him down to earth once again, for the future of tennis. It'll only improve Medvedev

Exactly. You have to be impressed. This is what everyone has been waiting on, it's just crazy we all got the predictions of who it would be so wrong
Or maybe there is something to @UnderratedSlam GAS theory and we need to give some of these young guys more time to hit the new age that is capable of doing big things.

While I am no Thiem fan, he reached his first slam final at 23. Med Bear at 23.

Maybe this means guys like Tsits (21), Khachanov (23), Zverev (22), Shapo (20), FAA (19), and Fritz (21) are about to hit the same level.

Imagine if 6 months ago we said Med Bear would do this. We would laugh, we did. Don't see why the other can't eventually do the same.

In the next few years we will find out, but what we have been waiting for is in motion and should be here (more than one) by this time next year or the next.

Federer has to first get that far to get the chance to play him. He could have stopped Med in Shanghai, but not playing well enough.

Sascha's serve was zoning for a couple matches, and that hurt Roger along with his stubbornness to hang the baseline while returning even when not reading well.

This thread sounds like an obese child yelling and demanding more cake.

No cake if they are over 32 :( More like the old guys are getting their cake and eating it too.

Age rule = lol in leadership the recent atp has strived for. Keeping the pigs fat

Also, Mad Lad showing it is possible gives everyone hope. It probably has something to do with the Next Gen players having an uptick in form.

I'm happy to see someone new doing so well tbh. Meddy looks like the stand out #NextGen player now, I'm sure not even @Meles would have picked Medvedev for that honour 12 months ago. It will be interesting to see how his game evolves from here and who from his cohort will be able to challenge him - right now it seems like he's got their number.

Several things are abundantly clear.

1. My GAS theory is a fact, not a theory. It has already been confirmed by Lendl and even usually thick sports journalists are getting to accept it.

To anyone who wants to read about my GAS FACTS, search a thread with GAS in it. Great Age Shift. Or just check out the ages of slam winners, no 1s, top 100 age average in this decade and compare it to the previous ones...

2. NextGen is better, far better than LostGen. Not saying it because LostGen were in the thick of Big 3 dominance hence had it tougher than NextGen, but because when you list the LostGenners, it's just OBJECTIVELY an absurdly weak list, a crap generation. If Raonic and Goffin are among the BEST 5-6 of a generation then you know it must be weak. One needed years to learn to run faster than a snail, the other is the dictionary definition of a pigeon.

3. I doubt ANY of the NextGenners will be as good as Bearerer. He just has big advantages over them: his crazy power/junk/troll game and his immense confidence. That should keep him above the others for years. I may be wrong. Let's hope I am coz I don't want another boring monopoly such as in the 90s and 00s.

Finally a usurper shows up, and people are complaining...

And he has personality, and a weird game that annoys opponents. What more do you want? A singing clown?

But I guess when the Big 3 era ends, that will separate the men from the boys among fans, the real tennis fans and the fanboiz who are just there to support one player.

Nadal is supposed to be a cerebral player, yet he failed to move in on return during the Wimbledon SF. It happens. I still consider him an intelligent tennis player after that.
So you consider Rafa an intelligent player?
Can a 19 slam player understand less about tennis than yourself? Let alone top 500?

When a player as average as Medvedev starts winning 1,000 series events, you know the post-Rafa/l’empereur/Djokovic era is heading for the abyss.

Yes, I do.

Anyone that has played/followed tennis can easily make an observation about court positioning because we aren't there on the court going through it. We aren't dealing with a crowd or pressure of the moment. That's probably what happened to Nadal in that SF. It's not because he isn't smart enough to change tactics. Much like Federer being stubborn in a match doesn't take away the fact that he has every shot in the book and makes life hard on opponents because of it. Goes without saying he's an intelligent player as well.
How that a new thing?
I was just asking him a question. I never said Federer lacks variety.
The insinuation was made through the question.

1: You don’t know what is going in Rafas and Feds head. Probably something very different from what you are saying.

2: that’s because you don’t understand what’s going on inside peoples heads. I find this thread not the most intelligent one and I was only fishing for some more generic answers from op who thinks he is bringing up new insights when it’s something we have heard before.

Very much.
Think he also wanted ice cream, not cake. Poor him.

1. His return position obviously wasn't working for him and he didn't change it. Are you saying he isn't smart enough to realize that and act accordingly? Are you saying that Federer is so ignorant that he makes the same mistake over and over again? A 19 time and 20 time slam champion? The answer is NO. The adrenaline, the moment, all that contributes to bad decision making sometimes.

2. The insinuation was made and I knew you were fishing which is why I replied. Just looking for something to use against Fed fans. Waiting for someone to say something that you can use against them.

Okay..
It's a bunch of crap though, I have to admit.
The ways you went to justify the theory were staggeringly good, anyways
