Once all this Co Vid / trade war stuff passes I would give to China, Shanghai but what surface? I would develop a new type of high performance artificial grass. Sounds weird however you will then have a different surface from the others making it stand out rather than yet another hard court. I would give it a nice distinct colour as well some kinda nice deep red/ maroon thing to differentiate it.

You actually have quite a few different clays look it up. They dont use them much on the ATP anymore maybe the cost to mantain dont know fully......

An additional South American Clay slam would be great, perhaps Rio, and another grass slam in Asia so that continent is represented - far fetched as that is.

One huge problem with a place like Dubai, would be the constant protests over things like human rights issues. Exhos are one thing, but a slam is a much bigger deal. There were pretty loud protests when WWE did their Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia, as well as Joshua/Ruiz 2 in boxing. And those were just one-off events. It'd be a PR nightmare if a slam was being protested on a yearly basis because it was being held in a country with human rights issues.

Ideally, you want a 5th slam to be located in a country where there isn't a huge gap in terms of the political and human rights idealogies of the western countries where slams are already held. Otherwise you will just get the ATP being caught up in political crossfires.

Indoor carpet, somewhere in Europe. All of the slams, even grass, have slowed down to a crawl. The fifth slam should deviate from that and reward those who actually can play in super fast, low bouncing conditions. It's too late for Fed to benefit, so I'm looking at what would benefit tennis the most and fan interest. The slow surfaces have just produced grind fests.

Tennis is a first-world sport, a creation of the English-speaking world with heavy Francophonic influence.

And you don't want to hold it in a place that's difficult or expensive to get to or navigate once you get there.

Yes, that's right. Canada. I have made this argument before and I think it's the logical choice. We already have the US Open on the East Coast, so maybe Vancouver could be the 'West Coast Slam'.

I'd say a faster clay or another grass slam. Or how about both and have a nice even half dozen...
