Fabio!! A lot less complicated and he gets such easy power. He's also able to use it as a effective return of serve, Stan blocks forehand returns.

Fognini's is better on fast surfaces, but even on clay I wouldn't say that Wawrinka's is better. The difference between them is in the head not in the level of groundstrokes. The poll is biased because of recent results

I think Wawrinka groundstrokes are being heavily underrated here. The guy has a top notch forehand, not only the beautiful backhand.
His forehand was perhaps a bit weak earlier in his career especially compared to his beautiful backhand, but he's improved that wing quite a lot and that's why he became a real contender in 2013. He might not have a GOAT forehand like Federer or Rafa does, still it's one of my favorite shot on the tour because I love the way he blasts it. I think Wawrinka's ground game is very solid overall, sometimes a bit underrated because he tends to shine mostly in slower conditions. He also has a very decent net game, sometimes he shows nice touch around the net so I think I consider him somewhere between an agressive baseliner/all-court kind of player. His only real weakness is the return of serve, and while his serve tends to be quite powerful, it's also proven to be a bit unreliable at times. Regardless of those "weakness", he still won 3 slams, 2 of them against a player we tend to consider as the most "complete" player ever (Djokovic), so he clearly deserves his due here.

Wawrinka's is better on the macro level in that he can use it better and make better decisions. Sure Fogster can rip crazy winners but...yeah.

Fog, hands down. How the shot is selected and set up with footwork, that's another story. But Fog's swing and timing are sublime, particularly considering the complete lack of footwork on most of his FHs.

Oops! When I saw Wawrinka's name in the thread title, my brain went to Backhands rather than Forehands.

LOL, Stan just being nice to Halep. His footwork on the backhand is sublime.
More than anything, he was giving props to Simona's footwork and fleetness of foot. At a mere 5'6" she is considered one of the fastest, if not the very fastest, player on the WTA tour. There may be a couple dozen ATP players who are quicker, but she might possibly be in the top 30 or 40 if she was playing on the ATP Tour

Note that Stan did have some issues with his footwork on faster surfaces some years back according to Roger...
