Um...Lemme sum this up:

Fed is good. REAL good.

Yeah, he can. Will he? Dunno. Probably. Also, consider Federer's consistency - don't automatically assume a title defense by Djokovic next year, or Nadal for that matter this year at the French.

Let's just watch and see, o.k.?

Yeah, this is really really starting to get old. Remember last time Federer lost in the semis of a slam? He then went onto win 8 GS and reach 10 consecutive finals.

very well said. i never thought of that and you are exactly right however i don't expect that kind of run again but i do consider him the favorite for wimby the us open and second for the French

Oh geez cmon. Federer loses his streak and now people are questioning his ability to win another grand slam. Of course he can win geez. Look at Sampras or every single other great player. None of them were able to win all their grand slams in a row.

Yeah, Federer's still the best player in this world. He is the top favorite for all slam still.

But just minor differences, in 2005, a semi-finalists were OLDER than Federer.

Now in 2008, all the OTHER semi-finalists are 4,5,6 year YOUNGER than Federer....

Federer will have more "off" days against these top young talents.
The real test for Federer's greatness is from now, IMHO.

He is the best player in the world. Full stop.

On his way to becoming the greatest tennis player ever.

He will win plenty more slams provided he remains at the fitness level he is. I'll bet my house on it!

Where is your bad English? It is not the same without it.

No, Federer will not win any more Slams. His confidence has been destroyed and he is getting old.
He reached the semis after having a virus.

Last year, Hewitt had a virus before the Chennai open and caved in in the second match itself.

The current performance only shows how good federer can be even when down. He'll be back to 100% very shortly.

Unless he switches to a larger frame on the backhand side, the answer is NO.

Jedi Master Yoda, Have you given up on your FedGod so soon?

Good to read your post after some time. Or, maybe, I am the one who has been irregular on the forum and missed your posts!

Federer might be the all time slams leader when he gets 23 slams. I can see a few more years of 3 out of 4 and 1 or 2 years of the GRAND SLAM.

Yeah Fed probably has Wimbledon but the other 3 will be tough as Nadal and Djokovic will be tough on those surfaces to beat.

Nadal had him to Wimbledon last year I bet he gets him this year.

Nadal is RG favourite and should be.

And in NY Djokovic is the threat now... that might be his best bet imo!

I think his career is not over and he will probably win some more GSs even if he doesn't do it this year BUT I think he will slowly cease to dominate like he has in the past. Just guessing of course!

Of course Federer can still win slams, I think he will win Wimbledon this year and probably the US Open.

I would love to see him win Roland Garros but I think that is the one slam he will never get.

I also see Federer winning the Bejing Olympics this year and still being world number one by the end of the year.

However I think he will suffer defeats in the Masters Series events.

Don't worry he will be back - it was probably being ill and playing the down under - would have played havoc with his health

FED is the GOAT since some wimby 2003

Don't forget that :
without preparation and with a virus attack several dayz before the beginning of AO, FED was able to reach the semi...

It's gonna be delicious the next time i'm gonna watch Fed kicking Djokovic's butt and see the posts over there!!! Some guyz ovethere are so versatile.

Can't see Nadal reaching a 3rd consecutive Wimbledon final.

Whether Federer wins it will very much depends on the draw. The number of players that are capable of taking him to five sets early on is increasing fast.

If Fed switches to a 100" babolat he will dramatically increase his chances of winning another slam.

Interesting. Yes, I think Nadal is still good for the French and it will probably be a toss-up at the USO, but Wimbledon looks good for him.

Suresh, I have substantially improved my English last year. I just moved to USA, now I'm US citizen and I stopped supporting Federer because of that, now I support Roddick and want Patrick McEnroy returns to the big sport.

If this was Serena, people would be all over her.

threads like this are kind of stupid. I mean if I was a fortune teller and had the ability to predict the future I would probably pick myself some lottery numbers instead of worrying about whether or not fed would win another slam each year. None of us know, he could really be washed up. He could win every slam from now until he retires. If anything the aussie open should have shown us that anyone can beat anybody on any given day. That is all you can say. Fed has the ability to win every grand slam, so does djokovic and so do several other players. So my answer to your question is... i really dont know.

One thing for sure. Nadal will not get lucky like last year in Wimbledon. He should have lost in the 2nd round against Soderling and then against Youzhny he was down 2 sets to love but Youzhny had a back problem.

Why would he say I am not 100%. If he would say I feel a little ill then his opponent would know that he can't move to well. This is basic stuff, you should know this.

Honestly, would you say that you weren't 100% and give your opponents a chance to exploit that fact, or would you rather lie and have your opponents fear you the same way they would if you were at 100%??

I'm pretty sure Federer didn't want people to know that he wasn't 100%, so he would be able to play his opponents the way he's always played them. Plus, you can't figure that a stomach virus would recover so fast, it takes quite a period of time to recover.

Strange how the effects of the virus didn't show in the 5 set match which lasted in excess of 4 hours and in the other matches he won in straight sets.

He didn't lose because of the virus. Nole spanked him in straight sets. Plain and simple!

After the Tips match, he was saying how this gives him experience because no one except Nadal can take him to 5 sets. No mention of illness then.

Djokovic (and maybe Nalbandian, Tsonga, Murray etc) will be challenging him more on hard courts from now on, but he will still be the favorite in hard court slams, and the clear favorite at Wimbledon.

He did look paler and sweatier than usual at the AO - not in peak condition. Djokovic played better and deserved to win, but the result doesn't necessarily say much about how Federer will perform for the rest of the season.

Of course Federer will win like 1 slam this year.... But the years when Federer dominated and won 3 slams every year are gone forever.... Nole is too good on HC and Nadal is too good on clay....

One loss and the board is filled with Fed-haters. Wow. One title for Tsonga and instantly he's viewed on the same level as Fed and Nadal. People jump to conclusions way too quickly...
