Will Fed win another slam

Fed may well be capable of winning another slam, but will he actually get the job done? Will the stars align at Wimbledon or a future slam, or will he continue to come up short?

He's a few months shy of 38 now and winning a slam at this age would make him the oldest champion in the Open Era.

Put what you really think, not what you hope for. And if you think he will win more, how many do you think he'll win?

As Novak's fan I haven't voted... There is no proper answer for me in pool...

Hope he won't, but afraid he may vulture another one ;)

What are chances for another one... Who knows... I will guess something about 37.24632%...

Obviously, he has yet to hit his prime.
Not funny anymore :sneaky:

I think that in a couple of weeks he will have his last chance to win a slam but it will be very difficult. Hope that he proves me wrong though!

Towny, I will be honest: no one can read the future. Thus, everyone will mix what they "think" with what they "hope". That is the reason why most Fed fans will say "Yes, of course Fed can win more Majors" and most Nadal or Djokovic fans will say "It is extremelly unlikely, if not impossible".

Can Federer win another Slam?

Time only knows.

That is the only answer 100% right and free from bias.

No. Federer has been inconsistent Major wise winning them in the Nadal era and with Nadal and Djokovic playing well he will never win a Major unless they are injured.

Hence the reason for the poll divisions. Federer fans, including myself, will tend towards a bias towards him winning. I imagine the other fan bases will find it easier to be less biased. No one can be entirely unbiased of course.

In any case, I agree that only time will tell. I made a thread a few weeks ago about the inherent difficulty of making predictions for these three. Regardless, I am still interested in seeing what people have to say

I just can't write him off. After 2013 it was extremely hard to imagine him winning another slam. Then in 2014-2015 he played better but was missing chances to win slams and every time it looked like he missed his last chance. After 2016 it looked like he is done. And then 2017 happened. Once again, he was on a big decline in 2018 but this year he again plays better. You never know. I think we can all agree at this point that he is not beating Djokovic in a slam ever again. However if somebody takes Djokovic out (highly unlikely but if) then he will be the favorite for Wimbledon.

I'm a Nadal fan, and I for one think that Federer will win another Slam or 2 and still finish in third in the all-time list. Nadal and Djokovic are nowhere near retirement or even slipping and should continue to win Majors for the next 3-4 years.

Federer, the GOAT, shall indeed be victorious for a 21st time at one of the game's premier events.

Bull's relentless chase shall come to nought.

And as for Novak Djokovic? Let's hope he falls down a hole or something.

I'll never, within reason, count him out, and I think it's quite reasonable to think he'll be among the favorites to win the next two Wimbledons and the next editions of AO and to a lesser extent, the upcoming USO.

I didn't vote, as:. a. My prognostications are poor, and b. I didn't want to pigeonhole myself as a certain tribe of fan.

Gun to my head? He wins one more. For a while, when he was stuck at 17, I thought he'd get one more (though not three more). I know there's a big difference between "can" and "will", but I'll say he'll take one of those four... don't ask me which.

I feel like I might just be saying this in a "hope I'm proven wrong" sort of way, but I don't think he will. I think he'll definitely make another final, but I can't see him actually beating another opponent in a final and therefore winning another. Unless Fed ends up against a very surprising slam finalist, his chances of pulling out the victory are just not that great I feel. Fed was super lucky to get Cilic in two of his last slam finals. And beating Nadal was of course a fantastic victory, but part of the reason why it was so amazing is because it seemed so unlikely at the time that he would actually manage to beat Rafa in a final at this stage of his career.

I can't agree to this. Djokovic just lost to Thiem, if he were still the invincible machine of 2014 and 2015 that would never have happened.
On clay Djokovic was never an invincible machine. Thiem would have easily defeated Federer at RG 2019 as well.

Fed can win another slam. All it ever takes is a Djokovic or Nadal upset in a draw to blow it wide open. He might have to be the ultimate opportunist and get lucky with Djokovic going down but they all count the same regardless of what any of us on ttw say

That said yes it’s hard for me to see him beating Djokovic to do it. If he couldn’t in 2014 or 2015 it seems even more unlikely now even if Djokovic also isn’t at that level anymore.

Rojuh Federuh. I tried to tell you.

I think Fed can win Wimbledon again, but I don't think he can beat Djokovic along the way to do it. Djokovic has this way of playing terribly and losing matches to guys that are just awful, and then he ends up in the semis of a major and just turns Ultron mode on and destroys people.

I do think Fed can beat Rafa at Wimby, however. If Djokovic has a meh start to Wimbledon and goes out early (totally possible, especially after a let down at the FO), Fed would be the favorite to get there. I think getting match tough on clay will also help him a lot.

USO/AO would both be really tough at this stage, and I think we all know the FO ship has sailed. Wimbledon 2019 and 2020 appear to be his best (only?) shot.

Djok beat Rafa at RG in 2015 and won it all in 2016. He is not that player now.

I agree that Fed would have also lost to Thiem, my argument is that Djokovic is now closer to Fedal than he was at his peak.

I used to think this, then AO17 happened.

The 2017 Federer renaissance did a lot for him mentally. Sadly though the Djokovic demons were never exorcised that year.

Djokovic is the same player, the only difference is that he faced the worst version of Nadal ever in 2015 and he won RG 2016 with Nadal withdrawing due to injury. As soon as Nadal came back to form in 2017, Djokovic has been unable to win RG again. There is no magical difference between Djokovic at RG 2016 and RG 2019 except that he haced stronger competition in 2019.

Federer would have destroyed Djokovic at Wimbledon 2017, but Djokovic withdrawed just one match earlier against Berdych.
I don’t disagree but now Djokovic is mentally back.

I hate myself so I’d be five torturing myself with another Djokovic Federer Wimbledon Final

Exactly. People like to bash Thiem because he can't beat Nadal in RG. It's true that he massively underachieved for somebody who is called the prince of clay for 3 years. But he is still stronger than anybody who Djokovic faced on clay in 2015-2016 except Wawrinka in RG 2015 final.
