Will we ever have a movie about the big3?

Imagine it, a movie about the big 3 on a big screen with actual high quality tennis acting and realism with a big budget. It would be cool and they could touch on many things personal and on court.

Maybe even a 10 episode series where they show 3 of each's perspective and the final is the finish/retirement.

Not many good tennis movies, maybe this will be the one?

What would you like them to touch on?

Considering Novak is the traditionally best-looking of the 3 (in terms of symmetric, evenly proportioned features), it would be unfair to make the other two perfect-looking and make Novak the ugliest actor of the three. No offense to Mr. Cohen.

As far as a movie, as a tennis buff I'd enjoy it, but I wonder what type of silly drama they'd try to inject to make it appeal to general audiences? Fedal are so even-mannered and have lead boring, perfect lives.

Lol, I was just thinking about that while watching Laver Cup. There will definitely be a movie about Fedal, with a highly dramatizised storyline.

I highly doubt it, at least not in the USA where I am. Maybe a foreign market where tennis is a bigger draw and there are superstars. Here in the states most people don't know who they are because tennis is not popular and they are not American. However I could see a Rafa movie being done in Spain and the same for the others in their home countries and them being quite successful, as well as across Europe in general.

Would be the most boring movie ever. Act I: Federer beating munchkins like Roddick, Act II: Federer being beaten by Nadal...everywhere. Act III: Djokovic rising.

As you can see, only Act III has any entertainment value. Instead of putting the focus on a chronological documentation of the big 3, we should focus entirely on Djokovic's inspirational triumph against sickness, Fedal, and the world.

Not that I give a damn about their looks, but Nadal (even a Nadal that is losing his hair) has always been considered the best looking of the three, by far. I can't recall Djokovic being asked to star in Shakira videos as a love interest or model underwear. Nadal in his prime was a sex symbol along the lines of Cristiano Ronaldo.

I don't think Djokovic was ever seen as some sort of hunk or sex symbol. He's not ugly, but he's got a long face and I don't think he'd get any particular attention for his looks if he were not a famous Tennis player (unlike say, Nadal or Feliciano Lopez).

Fed isn't conventionally handsome at all, but he gets a lot of mileage out of expensive haircuts and good styling.

Wasn't a rivalry though. Federer was destroyed by Nadal for the overwhelming majority of the rivalry. You could only make it watchable by starting with Federer in his physical recovery at the end of 2016, but mostly recovering from the trauma of being owned by masters Nadal and Djokovic, losing his faith that he can win, and that any of his victories were meaningful because they were against a weak era. As he trains and changes, becoming more humble, acknowledging his shortcomings as a player and person, hiring Ljubicic, seeing the greater importance of family and finding God (which is in all likelihood the only way the any of this happened in the first place) he regains the confidence that leads him to his historic victory over Rafa at the Aussie and propels him to GOAT-hood (for the sake of the film of course).

I'm not a woman, so I suppose my opinion matters for little. But I believe a large portion of Rafa's appeal is in his physique ("my perfect a*s") and I was speaking more to symmetric faces. I certainly don't see Novak as having a perfect face, but he doesn't have a big nose (if anything Roger's is bigger), so giving him one and the other two perfect faces seemed a little mean :p.

None of them are remotely traditionally handsome, especially Djokovic. Come on. I think by FAR most women would say Nadal is the most attractive, though he's actually only "cute," and not handsome. No knock on Djoker at at all, but he's not handsome by any stretch of the imagination. Very few pro tennis players are. The contrast between he and someone like Taylor Fritz is substantial.

I'm sure the Djoker fanatics will be triggered, but he's obviously the least good looking of them by a considerable margin. Fed has been made very attractive by an array of $900 haircuts, beautiful styling and lots of work. Fed is better looking in person, Nadal worse looking (lots of freckles) and Djokovic looks the same, at least to me. But of the three, Nadal is obviously the most attractive and has the best physique.

You have obviously never seen Nadal in person. He is extremely good looking in real life. I thought I would be disappointed when I was going to see at close quarters for the first time in Abu Dhabi, as I had a media pass, because I always thought he was good looking but he exceeded my expectations. Don't take my word for it, take the word of the magazines who have put him among the best looking sportsmen, sometimes the best looking sportsman over the years.

By the way, he doesn't have freckles.

Wouldn't it also depend on when & where you saw them? I know if I saw a WTA player fresh off the court vs in formal wear, or even just after getting cleaned up for post-match interviews, my opinions would probably differ rather drastically.

ESPN 30 for 30 coming soon... like in 15 years when half of us are dead because of the apocalypse. But I'm looking forward to watching it in heaven after I'm done dancing with the backstreet boys.

In AbuDhabi I attended the post match press conferences and saw all the players. I saw them practice and sign autographs. Rafa has a lot of presence. Djokovic would easily blend into the crowd but Rafa stands out. I know I'm biased, but this is true.

Instead of the "Three Identical Strangers" film of last year, perhaps "Three Non-Identical Strangers" in which the boys learn they are actually brothers (like the three brothers with different mothers on the TV show "Bonanza") who were separated very early in life and adopted away.

Tennis in movies has always sucked and never been realistic.

Especially modern Hollywood should stay away from tennis. That Borg-Mac movie is horrendous trash.

A proper 3-hour documentary would be terrific. Not silly-looking actors doing goofy impressions.

Each of the Big 3 needs their own major documentary, NOT produced by Americans or Brits of course but by someone else.

The French for example.

And then maybe a 5-part mini-series on the Big 3. Again, no Americans or Brits... The French might be good for this. Or some other European country.

It's the most compelling trifecta in sports history, and it would make for an awwwwful movie.

Nothing happened. They are all just great athletes. Novak going vegan would be the highest point of tension?

I mean, all 3 are guaranteed to retire as legends. No heartbreak, no off court drama, no genuine animosity among the three.

Could certainly make for a stellar documentary, but not a film.

Drama or no drama, a movie would be awful. Documentary is the way to go. But a proper long one, not one of those dumb 50-minute films that try to cover 50 eras and 150 topics.

The rubbish that was Mac Borg didn't even make a ripple in American cinema. And Mac is one of the most famous tennis players ever, especially in America. Even non tennis fans knew him. How do you make a movie on 3 guys that are completely boring as hell, personality wise? And in a 3 way rivalry that only hardcore tennis fans care about? :-D I don't see any coverage at all in the sports papers about them. The only reports come after any of them wins a Slam but other than that, it's dead quiet. You can make movies on Ali, Mike Tyson, etc who were larger than life outside their sport. Not going to work with these 3 guys who are only interesting on the court.

So imagine just how much BALONEY Hollywood might decide to invent to pepper up the story...

Hollywood bios are notoriously fictional and inaccurate.

The scene where RF tells the Djokovic clan to be quiet would be blown out of all proportion. It would resemble a script from WWF.

I doubt it. Way too much history to exploit this in a 2 (or even 3) hours movie. So the movie would need to be about only one of them and we all know which one they would choose.

They would create inner drama between the big 3. All made up rubbish. The only bit of drama that was real was Novak's parents being jerks that nobody liked or respected. But his parents were completely irrelevant anyway.

I think you would have to narrow it down and focus on 2 individuals at a particular moment of time eg. Federer and Nadal in the 2008 Wimbledon final or Djokovic and Nadal at the 2012 AO final just as they did with Borg and McEnroe at 1980 Wimbledon.

If they make it by facts and true story, not fake one like Laver Cup, it would be best thriller (or maybe even horror) that was ever made.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a tennis coach in Match Point is particularly hilarious although having said that there are some very dodgy coaches here in the U.K., like 3.0 standard.

Pro tennis could only work as comedy, never as drama, or at least not when the tennis itself is in the forefront i.e. real tour events being portrayed and described.

As a spoof it would work as well as anything. Provided Hollywood´s newer "comedians" aren´t doing it... They stink.

Can't argue this. He sexy, and handsome, and cute... well that's what my wife says.
