In reality, an olympic medal is not important. As I said in the other thread, the 2008 olympics was just a generic decoturf masters event like Canada played in Beijing with medals awarded at the end. So it really adds nothing to your proven abilities or resume.

The media's job is very rarely to be fair- they typically just print stories that will sell and attract attention. Of course the general media won't sell the WTF- most non-tennis fans know nothing about it. The Olympics on the other hand is well known and widely respected.
