Once the novelty of Federer's comeback wore off the WTA has more often had the most entertaining matches, variety of skill, and players trying to win.

No. I dont think it gets more entertaining then matches like last night. Poor, yes, but entertaining. WC19 probably the most entertaining match of all time.entertaining matches
MAybe here.variety of skill
Didnt like 5 of the top 10 not even bother to play?players trying to win
Yes.As the male game devolves further into negative baseline bashing, I find myself enjoying WTA more than ever.
If Henin made a comeback (I know she can't), I'd probably not watch ATP at all.
Yes.
There's some baseline bashing in the WTA, too, but some people have variety in their game. Good stuff.
Agreed. Let's separate the tours (slam tournaments) etc.Once the novelty of Federer's comeback wore off the WTA has more often had the most entertaining matches, variety of skill, and players trying to win.

I wonder what Graf could do right now if she trained. I'm sure there are a few scrubs on tour she could beat.As the male game devolves further into negative baseline bashing, I find myself enjoying WTA more than ever.

The WTA has been awful since the 00s the ATP is just now catching up.
Yeah the novelty of the WTA don't run just stand there and yeet is amazing.
He didn't say the WTA just stand there doing nothing. He said they just stand there and yeet the ball.Man you really don’t watch the WTA if you think they just stand there and do nothing. Vika and Osaka were running all around in that final. Obviously not as much as the men but please educate yourself, if only to not make you look like a fool.
All your favorite pigeons going down hard now?ATP depth has been horrible for several years now
Idk man, Nadalovic played one of the greatest matches of their rivalry at Wimbledon 2018. And last year, yeah, the lost match points was crushing for Fed fans but the match itself was great.Once the novelty of Federer's comeback wore off the WTA has more often had the most entertaining matches, variety of skill, and players trying to win.

So, judging a general statement on play styles on tour on the basis of two matches? Hmm....Pretty weird flex considering the men’s final had 97 points at net and the women’s 28. Even adjusting for 5 sets vs 3 that’s half the rate. Baseline bashers gonna bash though.

Frankly, those stats aren't surprising given how those particular players play...
Picking one pair of players in one match to draw conclusions about the play of the entire tour is misleading. The men's match in question had the two best young players in the game under 30 and the women's match had the best one. And it was the two finals of a Slam. So the stats from them carry a lot of weight. Plus, there's plenty of other attacking young male players out there.
The WTA has been an unwatchable mugfest since the female GOAT retired. The WTA has been awful since the 00s the ATP is just now catching up.

You could pick a match in, say 1990 between Agassi and Lendl (or say Courier) on hard court and draw the conclusion that everyone was playing from the baseline, as the stats would almost certainly bear that out. Or conversely, watch Becker and Edberg play and assume that everyone served and volleyed.
I agree, that would be interesting.I am not arguing. I'd love to see the cumulative stats for, let's say, 15 top tournaments so we can really see what is what. It's hard to extrapolate anything from a single match but it's still better than nothing.

Tsitsipas, Shapo for starters. Who's got the other 3?Plenty? Can you name more than 10? Of course not.
What about 5 who play attacking all court tennis and are under .. let's make it easy .. 30!

Kyrgios, that's all I got. Tsitsipas, Shapo, and Kyrgios. I'm haven't watched enough of Sinner. No one else approaches the net very often under 30. Maybe Raonic is considered all-court. And then there's Khachanov. But if you're gonna start calling Khachanov all-court then you might as well start throwing all the other baseliner's names in there. It's not a group project. I could round out 5, but if you have to ask for help it's not easy.

Filip KrajinovicI wouldn't have included Kyrgios, but desperate times call for some latitude. Sinner does have potential. Raonic is a servebot and almost 30. Khachanov is a baseline basher. You're at a very dubious 4, got one more? Should I offer a prize for 10?
Filip Krajinovic
Krajinovic plays all court attacking tennis though, so we're up to 6 including Dimitrov. 4 more and I win the $1500 you were talking about.I know what I said about desperate times, but now you're just being silly.
We should probably stop before it gets absurd.
Call Dimitrov young and we're done .. unless someone wants to go for 10
