so far i thinkHas anyone played one another more this year than Swiatek and Noskova? I know Ostapenko and Azarenka and also Stephens and Cirstea have played a fair few times already.
QF vs Yuan who's also her doubles partner in Rouen this week.Insane that Sloane v Pliskova was a 2R in a 250 in France when a about 7 years ago that would’ve been a slam final.
Pliskova was the #1 seed at the US Open that Sloane won in 2017.
Self serve. Lost her serve in the 6th game. Linda must have needed some carbs.Emma Rads looking to serve up a bagel to Noskova.
Hope this is the start of at least some form for her with RG and Paris Olympics coming up. She's not one of my favourites but I feel her A game is deserving of a big win.1 & 0 for Garcia over Schmiedlova in France.
Exactly, she's not injured (for now)... So let's see what she can do this year if she remains injury free. Swiatek up next in the QF where Raducanu will be a major underdog, so here's hoping she comes out firing.Never write off Raducanu. She has a slam-winning game, you don't just lose that ability.
She went through a period where she couldn't win a thing. Felt like it was 10 months long. Lately she has been better, but yes, most people seem to ignore her.Pavlyuchenkova, seeded 1, easily won today in France. I really enjoy watching her play. Strong hitter, good attitude, no crying and screaming, attractive.
Surprised she doesn't get much love here.
She just bashes the ball as hard as she can. Sometimes she gets into a groove where she hits more than misses, and she gets some results (against decent players, see below), but it usually doesn't last. She's a typical 2024 WTA player...It's very strange, it seems there's no middle ground with Raducanu - she's either awful on court or beating everyone easily.
I would like to understand this phenomenon.
A slam where she never faced anyone ranked in the top 20 (if I'm remembering right), so yeah, no.Never write off Raducanu. She has a slam-winning game, you don't just lose that ability.
Please elaborate.I really, really dislike this court on TV.
I'm surprised she didn't make more than those 7 unforced errors today playing in such a gung ho fashion! She just bashes the ball as hard as she can.
Raducanu straight-setted 10 players in a row to win the U.S. Open, two in the top 20 at the time, Bencic 6-3, 6-4 in the QF and Sakkari 6-1, 6-4 in the SF. #150 Raducanu also beat #41 Sorribes Tormo 6-0, 6-1 and #43 Shelby Rogers 6-2, 6-1. That's 4 bakery-product sets in her last 10 sets to win a slam. She was clearly playing at a slam-winning level as she literally won a slam and did it without dropping a set. She has not matched that level since, but that doesn't mean she wasn't playing very well in those 10 matches.A slam where she never faced anyone ranked in the top 20 (if I'm remembering right), so yeah, no.
Three operations in the past year. It's very strange, it seems there's no middle ground with Raducanu - she's either awful on court or beating everyone easily.

Things are going her way right now. That's the point. And Noskova was embarrassing in that first set.I'm surprised she didn't make more than those 7 unforced errors today playing in such a gung ho fashion!
Are you typing this with a straight face? Bencic, who had a fluke Olympic win and has done exactly nothing with the rest of her career (one slam semi and that's it)? Or Sakkari, a notorious choker who has all of two titles in her career, despite being in the top 10 for a while now? Raducanu was in some sort of can't miss state of grace, not even understanding what was really going on, and both of these players (and others with Fernandez as well) were simply melting under the pressure of expectations. This was the best chance that most of them had to win a slam, being the favorites against unknowns like Raducanu and Fernandez, and it blew their minds.Raducanu straight-setted 10 players in a row to win the U.S. Open, two in the top 20 at the time, Bencic 6-3, 6-4 in the QF and Sakkari 6-1, 6-4 in the SF. #150 Raducanu also beat #41 Sorribes Tormo 6-0, 6-1 and #43 Shelby Rogers 6-2, 6-1. No need to even comment on Srribes Tormo and Rogers, whose careers are there for everyone to see. You people really need to get a grip.
Yep. Instead of admitting he was wrong about Raducanu defeating no top 20 players at the USO, he just dismisses those defeats as not meaningful. In other words, robyrolfo is not using reason to choose. He's just choosing his reasons. Raducanu can't have played well to win the USO despite not dropping a set and contrary to his assertions, actually defeating top 20 players, because Raducanu sucks and all confirmation bias has to support that conclusion. If she plays well, it's a fluke. So you made a statement confirming your ignorance, were disproven, and now you're doubling down? Good to know.
