this thread is really bugging me... I have been eye-ing VCore pro 97 for a loooong time... i am itching to buy it... last thing i needed is more praise from you guys...

Btw, how is the comfort of this frame?
what is a good multi that you guys would recommend for VCore pro 97... i would go medium-powered, good spin poly if i could but scared of poly with the elbow... multifeel? velocity?
i know very broad questions but i'll take recommendations..

Comfort is very good. one of mine came strung with velocity. hit with it for 10 mins and didn't like it so i cut it out and restrung with cyclone 17 orange/v-pro 17 blue. can't offer any multi recommendations.

I find the frame super comfortable. Been playing with mine for about 4 months. I was playing with a vcore xi 98 which is plush but stiff. I blended Head FXP (~54lbs) with Lux 4G (~52lbs) on my Vpro 97 and found the playability forgiving on my arm. Soft feel but didn't lose the power I needed to create my shots.

Trying Iso-speed control on my second Vpro 97.

I've enjoyed a full bed of Multifeel in mine and so far it's my go to for this frame in a fb multi... Also, like you, I have stayed away from poly's due to a pretty bad, but manageable case of TE (mainly due to bad technique)...BUT, as my elbow has improved I recently tried a pack of Klippermate's included version of "ALU rough" @ 51/49 just for giggles, and it's not bothering my arm AT ALL and Im loving it...and my arm has been very sensitive in the past. Definitely a frame comfy enough to experiment with poly's again...

Definitely comfortable enough and I have a sensitive arm. I string it hybrid with alu power and Wilson sun gut at 24kg. Very nice combination that gives you some nice power with control.

is this a joke.. there is $20 discount at TW today on this stick.... ok.. that's it. that's a sign.

LOL, I saw that about half an hour ago. I said "what the hell" and ordered a 310!

My girlfriend is going to kill me. Last month I bought a Gamma X-ST and some related accessories.

I've been a huge fan of the Vcore 97 310's since the original cherry red one. Unfortunately the Vcore Pro didn't work for me. I'm not sure if it was the flex in the hoop or the string pattern. I loved the old 16x20 pattern. Too bad, because I love the paint job. But glad to hear so many others are enjoying it. Did anyone else think the pro feels way different than the previous three?
What did you dislike about the racquet?

Mainly the feel, particularly the flex in the hoop. And I didn't feel like I could drive through the ball like I could with the others when I wanted to. Also seemed to have less control than the three previous versions. But like I said, that's just me. Glad so many others like it.

Yes, you guys rock for sharing that deal. I was waiting to get another one, so the timing is perfect. Does this mean that the rumors of a new version are true? Interesting if so, and good news for this version as you can stock up and then hopefully the new one is pretty similar to this.

I was also in desperate need of a new bag, as my Wilson had given me 7 years of service and needed to be retired. I can recommend the Yonex Pro 9 pack. It has thermal protection in it. I don't believe the smaller ones do. It's an awesome size if you want to fit a bunch of frames in it. Personally I sweat a lot on hot humid FL, so I like having a lot of space for drinks, changes of clothes, some slides for after playing, sweaty clothes bin..etc. Great bag, finally Yonex made a really good one.

Multi in this frame will be a very high level of comfort. Full copoly in this frame honestly feels pretty soft. I wold strongly suggest using the string and tension you use now so you have a baseline to compare the frame. Getting a new frame and new strings can be quite a lot to adjust to.

Nice, it's rare to see another Vcore xi 98 user. I still have two of mine. Awesome frame. I don't think Yonex ever really fully recaptured the magic of that version. The new Vcore 98 is closest.

Still have my two - found them barely touched from my brother and took them for myself last year. Can't beat the feel of that racket. PJ is also amazing compared to the ones now. Unfortunately, the stiffness of that frame wasn't suitable for my arm.

Yeah, it’s a fairly stiff frame for sure, but big fat sweetspot, which I love. Very low SW so it basically screams to be modded a little. I’m going to match mine to my 310s, which should be pretty simple. It’s a great frame for me to have one in the bag because now and then I still get in the mood to pull it out for a hit. Probably the best “player’s tweener” I have owned.

I was really intrigued when this was first announced last year. I could never pull the trigger. I was conflicted on whether to get the 310 or the 330. Ended up getting neither. Maybe if it drops in price again I'll give them a whirl.

I’m a heavy frame lover and I’d suggest the 310 if you ever take a shot at one. It plays like a heavier frame but you will get the benefit of higher racquet head speed.

I took off the 4 grams I had going down the bevels on the pallet to get the frame back to stock and it feels like it swings faster. Thought more weight in the handle may make it whippier, but regardless I like how it feels more at stock weight and I’ll probably stay like that.

I was able to match my xi98s to the 310 pretty easily. Interesting thing is the xi I got from an ATP player is a 3/8ths that he took the base grip off of and rewrapped with an Overgrip only. No lead anywhere and it basically weighs and balances like the 310. The other xi I have is retail and needed a little lead in the handle to match up with the other 2. I know for a fact this guy played the frame just as I have it, so even if Yonex slightly beefed it up for it’s pros, its still basically playing at the weight and balance of a stock pro 310.

I say this just in case anyone is doubting that you can do serious damage to the ball with the 310 in stock form. I know I would have in the past. My first purchase of this series was the Tour G 330, and in retrospect I probably should have gone with the lighter version.

Agreed!... I demo'd the 330 after I had the 310 a bit...the 330 was nice, but not necessary...the 310 still gets thru the ball well and still fast enough to serve big!

Wow. Yes. Very accurate review. These guys know their stuff.

I initially read tennisnerds review of the 330 and he totally dismissed the 310 as just a lighter version, which is a shame because he seems biased toward only heavy racquets now.

That tennisbros review basically mirrors my findings. I was asking mad dog “are you sure you dont add lead?” Lol. Just shows how specs are changing a bit on frames and you can go lighter without losing much. Nothing will plow through like a heavy sw, 12 ounce frame but nothing will win matches like consistent high tip speed. The nice solid feel and controllable pop off of the 310 really makes it play bigger than you would expect for a lower flex, thinner beam frame.

Thank you all for the input! It is greatly appreciated. How is comfort when stringing low polu? I have developed early signs of tennis elbow so I want to be careful.

Only played it with FB poly, tried 48, 50, 52 and 54 lbs. Always found it very comfortable.

Comfort is good but we all swing differently. If you feel like TE is coming you may want to play with full gut or multi for a bit. I don't see the 97 causing TE, but I also know that there are a million reasons it can occure outside of the frame.

I'd also strongly suggest this flexbar (I think the green one is best). It is inexpensive and can honestly save your arm. I had some signs of TE years ago and this bar and the exercises solved it. I still have mine hanging around just in case. Kind of a weird vid, but the exercises work.

Comfort is really good and to me the frame plays softer than what you would typically expect from a 65 flex rating. If you string low with poly, 40-46, you will should have a very comfortable string bed.

[QUOTE="FedGR, post: 13315384, member: 757915" I am really looking forward to try out this frame! Sounds like a very solid all-around frame.[/QUOTE]

It is exactly that. If that is your expectation, I think you will be quite pleased.

Received Vcp97 last night and played 2 hours today...
I had a lot of fun with this stick.. initial impressions... really good control.. power is very decent... touch and feel is the best I have experienced so far.. I have to dial in my OHBH. There is a touch of loss of power vs my prince tt100(310) but I only notice it on the backhand... I'll figure it out. I really like it..

everyone seems to harp on stability issues.. I had none... I am going to try and have this as my main stick if I can manage it. My play level may be a tad lower to make justice to this frame but I have been looking for a slightly more control stick than prince tt100(310) that I have which I also really like.. we shall see. Thanks everyone for suggestions.. I am really happy with it.. it also does look pretty badass...

Multifeel felt solid in it .. I may have to try x-perience but that poly is soft and powerful..to me it has more pop than multifeel which is a multi... what tension would you guys suggest for a powerful poly? Nice thing about it is that I suspect powerful poly would still compliment this stick as it does not have too much power to worry about taming it...

Nice, glad you like it. Not sure if a powerful poly really exists. What you want is a poly that you play with at low tensions. For now I would stick with the multi and learn the frame. Your needs may change over the next few hours of play. The multi will drop tension a little and you will start to sync up better with the frame. For me, I can use RS Lyon or Max power at 45#s and be set. If your play level is lower than I would not get a poly, it is not going to help you yet. when you start breaking multi fast and people tell you that you have heavy spin, that is when you will want to go to a poly. If you do it too early it may not really do anything for you.

Also, yeah the frame is quite stable. It has a high twistweight for it’s class. Thats one of the great things about it, and why I think its so good in stock form. Keep hitting, and have fun with it!

I've done that...also with flyrods, firearms, bowling balls, cigars, Scotch, bourbon...it becomes a "way of life" after a while. Easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission...

You all have gone and talked me into it...bought the 97 the other day to go along with my 100. This will be a simple "hide", they both look the same and as long as I string them with the same string, my wife will never know.

Got mine today - 309 grams unstrung. Yonex QC delivers again. I will string it up with RS Lyon since my Max Power reel wont be here for a few more days. I strung up my other one with Origin last night. Just giving my shoulder a rest this week. It’s already feeling better luckily.

My approach is I have so many rackets that she no longer knows which one is new or old. If I am not able to track them, she won't be able to for sure. I also strategically circulate them around the house (in the closet, in the bag, under the couch, under the bed) to add some confusion.

Has to be the case. This is a great version, probably the best yet, so I’d grab some at a discount instead and hope they don’t change the new version up.
I have mentioned earlier in this thread already, but the guys from my local shop told me there will be new models coming out, likely to be in September here. Beside the usual specs, I was told there will be a 18x20 320g model as well.
