Let's make a poll on string and string dampener setup. Give your string and string dampener setup, from the following options:
  1. Full poly, with dampener
  2. Full poly, without dampener
  3. Poly mains & gut/multi/syngut crosses, with dampener
  4. Poly mains & gut/multi/syngut crosses, without dampener
  5. Gut/multi/syngut mains & poly crosses, with dampener
  6. Gut/multi/syngut mains & poly crosses, without dampener
  7. Full gut/multi/syngut, with dampener
  8. Full gut/multi/syngut, without dampener
  9. Other, with dampener
  10. Other, without dampener

Let's include all full or hybrid setups with kevlar, zyex etc. in other. If possible, also explain why you like the setup you're using.

My own setup is currently multi-M, poly-X without dampener. I use NXT Tour mains, 4G crosses at 54/50 lbs. I like that setup as it provides just the right mix of power, spin, feel and comfort for my game. I hate string dampeners, as I lose all the feedback that the racquet gives.

I've also tried other setups but so far I've always come back to this.

what feedback is it giving?

I'm using the Bosworth/Lendl hybrid pattern with Black Out 1.24 for the center strings and Hexy Fiber 17 for the perimeter strings. I use a narrow rubber band tied around the 2 center mains. When the strings settle I get a nice, quiet racquet and the sweet spot gives extra accuracy and control. I also use Cyber Flash 1.25 for the center strings in the same pattern. The Cyber Flash/Hexy Fiber reminds me of the feel of Luxilon M2 Pro. But the hybrid is a lot less expensive and lasts longer.

I prefer to use a dampener when playing, and like small ones in particular. I have been using the Tecnifibre Vibra Clip because it very small and light. It also fits snugly and won't fly off the strings when you are hitting.

I used the vibra clip for a while but it didn't last very long. It was far less durable than the Pete Sampras and Pro's Pro O dampeners I use now.

I have 5 or 6 of the Vibra Clips that are at least 3 or 4 years old and they are still in good condition. Maybe newer versions are not as good.

Dampers do nothing for vibration dampening. They change the sound of the bed. They also increase weight in a way that isn't recommended (increasing balance, and mass without adding significant swing weight to offset those two draw backs). Basically it messes up recoil weight.
But, they're light enough it won't ruin any racquet.
No point in using one IMHO
